2. Inlays
• fits exactly by cementing
medium; an intracoronal
restoration- surrounded
by tooth structure.; not
suitable anchor for casting
in FPD.

3. Inlay classification:
• Class I: occlusal of posterior
(bicuspid and molars)
• Class II: proximal (M/D) and occlusal
of the posterior (MO, MOD, DO).

4. • Class III: proximal of the anterior
• Class IV: proximal and incisal of
anterior.
• Class V: facial or lingual surface
including the cervical third of the
teeth (anterior and posterior).

5. Pinledge
a thin casted gold restoration that covers
the lingual surface of anterior tooth involving 1
of the proximal surface.
- Categorized as specialized form of inlay
- Has 2/3 parallel pin with a depth of 1.52mm.
- Most aesthetic , most conservative type used
in FPD.
- Least reliable, potentially destructive to an
abutment because of the pin.

6. Onlays
a casted gold restoration in
(M,D,O,L,B) up to the extend of carries
; usually up to the middle third.
- Partially capped; smallest form of
FPD.
- An extacoronal restoration.

7. Artificial crown
a fixed prosthetic restoration which
covers more than half of the tooth surface
that is exposed inside the patient’s mouth.
-categorized in various kind:
Complete crown: covers the entire
surface/anatomy of the clinical crown.
Partial crown: a restoration designed to
replace 1 or more missing natural teeth.
-Retains or attaches to primary abutment.

8. Veneer
a complete coverage of submetal
structure overlying with either
porcelain or plastic(acrylic) for
aesthetic effect.

9. Jacket
a complete crown for anterior
tooth made entirely of porcelain or
acrylic.

10. Post crown
a complete crown of any kind –
metal or veneer.
- Uses a “core” where the crown is
attached.
