Common Admission Process meant for six
newer IIMs will begin after the declaration of
shortlists on January 25, 2014. “The short
listing procedure for Rohtak is different, and
hence the cut-off for Rohtak might vary slightly” says Prof Hari Shree Kumar, Chairperson(Admissions) IIM
Trichy that will be coordinating the admission process 2014 for all the six new IIMs viz. Kashipur, Raipur,
Tiruchirappalli, Ranchi Rohtak and Udaipur,
It may sound to be a very good news for admission seekers with less than 90 percentile in CAT 2013 as IIM
Rohtak in its admission policy 2014 has announced slightly lower threshold cut off at 85 percentile as
against other IIMs’ policy of 96+ percentile for admission 2014 final round. Besides IIM Rohtak has
announced to have a batch size of 150-160 students in 2014-16 batch while IIM Trichy proposes to have
110 students.

Work experience – Maximum weightage of 75 will be granted for a work experience between 30 to 35
months. But no weightage will be there for the work experience below 12 months or above 60 months.
Gender diversity- Female candidates will be assigned a grace score of 30.
Subject diversity-Candidates having a non-engineering background at graduation will be assigned a grace
score of 30.
IIM Rohtak Process for short listing
IIM Trichy coordinating the Personal Appearance (PA) process 2014 for six new IIMs, will call candidates 12
times of the proposed intake. Only candidates meeting the cut-off criteria listed in CAT 2013 component
scores in respective categories will be considered for short listing. More important is the fact that only
candidates meeting the cut-off criteria listed in qualification cut off, for X, XII and Under-Graduate (UG)
reported marks in respective categories will be considered for the short listing in final admission round.
2. The Personal Appearance Process
The eligible candidates will be ranked on the basis of their actual Grand Total Score and top specified
number
will
be
called
for
the
PA
process
above
a
required
percentile.
The PA process will be composed of Personal Interview (PI) and Written Analysis (WA) as well as any other
component to be decided, and (d) preparing the Final Selection List (FSL) based on CAT score, PA score and
profile score including Work Experience (WE) score as assessed during the PA process, score for Past
Academic Performance (PAP) and any other criterion included. Group discussion has not so far been
included in PA process.
Final Short listing for admission
IIM Rohtak will assign a weight of 50% to CAT Total Score (Scaled to 100), PI and WAT 30; and 20 to WE,
PAP and any other component that may be included. Minimum cut off may be applied to PA components.
Venues for PI & WAT
The Personal Interview and Written Analysis Test would be conducted at New Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru,
Chennai and Kolkata. The exact date for PI & WAT will be communicated to the short listed candidates.
In cases where candidates have been shortlisted by the six new IIMs as well as older IIMs, IIM Trichy may
collect the PI & WAT scores directly from the older IIMs. Such candidates will be informed in advance, and
they need not appear for IIM Trichy’s PI & WAT.

shouldn’t wait for January 25, 2014 but immediately begin their preparation for WAT and PI. Improving the
writing skill is a time consuming job. Select the hot WAT topics start writing on them one by one. Get the
same evaluated, rectify the errors. Read news papers, periodicals. Write down the summary of the articles
you have read. Write complete sentences and avoid cutting and crossing. Remember your reader is your
examiner who is going to examine hundreds of writing pieces.
