2. Case Study: FIFA 13
• Pre-production
• Black screen editing. An athlete will be placed in a all black suit with
sensors on, these then process movements and skills done by the athlete
and will then be transferred onto some hardware where they will edit the
skills and add them onto the game.
• EA sports has its own sound booth, to create chants and commentary for
live sounds, fans are asked to go in and sing certain songs and
commentators to do some commentary.
• There is a link here to identify and justify how the EA games are created
and the technology used to do so.

3. Production 1: Location
• EA operates its global Headquarters in Redwood Shores, California and
with regional headquarters in Geneva Switzerland and Singapore. In
addition, EA has worldwide studios
• All of the games made by EA including FIFA are set in ideal locations such
as the image of the right, looking ordinary but full of all of the hardware
and software needed to create the game. As the image on the left shows
the footballers completing there skills in the costume with extreme
technology on it enabling their skills to be edited.
4. Production 2: California
• The main office for EA games is in California where they do the majority of
games. However there are several other studios across the world that
provide the same, if not better games. The studio in California is a studio
where all the main ideas are put into place and where final decisions are
made on the games. Other stores world wide have less of an input in what
goes into the games I.e. graphics and new players est. Other stores world
wide will only be involved in creating the game so it is easier to sell games
to nearby locations, making it easier to sell the items to consumers world
wide.
5. Production 3: Broadcast
• Once the game has been developed and sold to a consumer it then
depends on how they chose to play the game and on what hardware. A
consumer of FIFA will most likely already have a console to play it on for
example the most likely choices are Xbox 360 or a play station 3.
• Online games allows a consumer of fifa to pay for Xbox Live. This enables
social interaction with friends and family while playing their favourite
game, also being able to compete against them, making the game more
entertaining.
• Ultimate Team: This is a live game for online gamers to create their own
team with world class players, earning money from playing other teams
online to create the best team possible
• Or consumers can just play Career mode, playing and managing their
favourite team.
