Twitter & Tweeting
• Social networking and micro-blogging service
  utilizing instant messaging, SMS or a web
  interface.
• Kinds of tweets: entertainment, information,
  special campaigns for events or fundraising,
  etc.
• Timing: Weekdays 3-5 p.m. Tuesdays are
  typically slow days per studies.
Beginner Basics
• Use a photo of yourself. Studies show that people
  are more responsive to faces than logos or other
  icons.
• Make sure your handle is not too long. The longer
  it is the less characters you have to tweet.
• In your description, make sure you provide
  people with a clear understanding of who you are
  and what to expect.
• Include a link to a website, LinkedIn profile or
  other, like your AboutMe.com profile.
What Makes For Success?
•   Awareness of what you represent/your brand
•   Understanding of who your audience is
•   Understand expectations from followers
•   Transparency
•   Keeping to key areas of interest and using
    hashtags for those, i.e. #kcroyals, #IMSMKC,
    #kcstorms, etc.
Tips
• Use specific messaging for each social media
  outlet. Not all content is pertinent for each
  audience and may be seen as spam.
• Do your research. Look at lists of people you
  follow, search key words and follow trade
  publications/organizations in your areas of
  interest.
• If you schedule tweets in advance, check in for
  responses.
Tips
• Tweet when you have time for conversations.
• Use social media manners.
• Post photos. Instagram allows for this, and is
  another social media outlet. It encourages
  interaction with followers.
• If you need help, crowdsource. Ask your
  Twitter community questions.
Remember…
• Online influence is influence online. It does
  not replace the influence of your IRL (in real
  life) network.

The longer it is the less characters you have to tweet. • In your description, make sure you provide people with a clear understanding of who you are and what to expect. • Include a link to a website, LinkedIn profile or other, like your AboutMe.com profile.

Look at lists of people you follow, search key words and follow trade publications/organizations in your areas of interest. • If you schedule tweets in advance, check in for responses.
