Sam Johnson was studying
to be a civil engineer when
one day he decided to
paint. Johnson
remembers, “Just having
the thought like ‘I’m going
to paint today and I don’t
really know why.’ So I did
some paintings and they
were terrible at first, but I
liked doing them.” Johnson
later used his painting
talent and engineering
knowledge to form the
core of his honors thesis.
