CHAPTER 1
1.1 INTRODUCTION
Art is something that is very subjective. Not everyone has this natural talent. art is for everyone.
What we see, touch, taste and others are seni.Oleh reason, what importance of art education in
society now. People have to realize, what we do every day all in a relationship. We can not
superficially trivial in art for art's education can also help the economy. According from
Information Communication and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim said today Malaysia
concept development for the future lies in the diversity of culture and art of the country (2009).
Rais said through art and culture, it is more practical 1Malaysia received by the young, middle
age, and the further from the school level and without consolidation in the culture, the country
will not succeed fully achieve its national goals.
Then, the arts is not everyone can accept it as a professional in a career field today. They
consider this field is just something that can not go away or working. It's just a waste of time. In
this day and age, parents must be open minded about what the art world really is and what the
importance of art education in the lives of their own today. as a society, the government should
play an important role to create the conditions that stimulate the formation of clusters of high-
tech future. This is because the child is not present as in the past who do not know anything
about technology. But in contrast to the present time because a lot of exposure have been
introduced since childhood. Art is a very interesting field and can be therapeutic in our lives. Art
is not as old as art now has a variety of facilities and information.
Recent research on so-called ' learning regions ' represents continued efforts to understand the
workings of the innovation process and the conditions that encourage the clustering of high
technology activity in certain areas by Wolfe 2002. It is often assumed that fields can involved in
similar or complementary activity benefits to being spartially proximate. As Wolfe and Gertler
(2003) summarize, the agglomeration of similar economic activity potentially allows each fields
within the cluster greater access to suppliers, skilled labour, and a common knowledge base.
Knowledge can be diffused through formal and informal interpersonal.
This is an important concern for meaningful analysis in contingent on properly assess the extent
of the importance of art education with life today. In addition, some institutions also need to
cooperate, especially MRSM, because they are concerned with science alone. Now, MRSM first
tried setting to add the subject of art in education polisisi to open the eyes and minds of students
about this art. Some of what has been learned has to do with the art of conscious or unconscious
only. The benefits of beginning with this foundation of understanding about children's artistic
and holistic development are diffused throughout the teacher preparation sequence, and manifest
themselves in improved curriculum planning by these future teachers. We see more age-
appropriate selections in the areas of teaching strategies, conceptual content, and media
processes for art production activities
Therefore, people today need to be aware and not be met with scorn again the ability of the arts
because we can see the various achievements of the area and this helped boost the economy.
1.2 STATEMENT OF THE RESEARCH PROBLEM
In addition, the relevance of the material that can be used in the learning process according to a
given level institutions is also important. Then, the mass media also play a role for eye-opening
and enlightening people about the wonderful art education using a variety of technology. Various
motivations and explanations should be given to the community so that they do not always dim
view of the field.
Arts education plays an important role towards the child's education through enhancing the
proceedings of perception, aesthetics and creativity. In addition, art in education will make the
process of teaching and learning in schools more fun than can help you understand yourself and
help the intellectual development within the context of problem solving.
Helping human development in a balanced and comprehensive in the educational process.

1.5 RESEARCH HYPOTHESES
1.6 OPERATIONAL DEFINITIONS
1.6.1 Definition Of Art
Art is for everyone. What to see around us is art . Art is a subjective and natural .
Everyone has an artistic flair varying either in or outside of conscious aware . The talent
is necessary in honed since childhood. Parents play a role in the ability to observe each
child that God gave .
Art is a human activity and product range of activities performed by folk art . In addition,
emphasis is also given to the creation of an image or object , including painting,
sculpture, printmaking , photography and other visual media . Until the 17th century the
art of many refer to any skill or mastery and distinguished from the craft or science . But
in the modern use of fine art, aesthetic considerations are paramount and it is
distinguished from the skills acquired in general, such as decorative or applied art .
In addition, art can also be categorized in terms of mimesis ( reflection on), expression of
emotional communication or other features . The nature of art and related concepts such
as creativity and interpretation , is explored in a branch of philosophy known as
aesthetics . Fine art refers to the skills that are used to express the artist's creativity , or to
engage aesthetics to a finer result . The artwork can be clearly made for this purpose or
interpreted on the basis of the image of the object.
According to Henry James, “The Middle Years” We work in the dark,we do what we
can,we give what we have. Our doubt is our passion and our passion is our task. The rest
is the madness of art. Then, from the Leo Tolstoy essay with the title “ What is Art” said
about art is not as the metaphysicians say,the manifestation of some mysterious idea of
beauty or God, it is not as the aesthetical physiologists say. A game in which man let off
his excess of stored-up energy. It is not the production of pleasing objects, and above all.
Then, it is not pleasure but it is a means of union among men, joining them together in
the same feelings and indispensable for the life and progress toward well-being of
individuals and of humanity.
1.6.2 Definition Of Art in Society
Today's society must realize that art education was introduced in schools is very
important these days. Arts education learning system is not like the past that only use
manual, not as it is now more on the use of technology and yet easy to learn and
understand.
There are stikingly different notions about the relationship between society and art. In
popular discourse it is often stated that „art mirrors‟society but this is a rague idea and not
very meaningful. Certainly, all conventions or styles of art do not consistenly resemble or
reflect specific aspects of society. For example, realistic paintings have been popular
during revolutionary periods as well as during harmonious times.
The connection between conventions or styles in art and aspects or process of society are
not specified in any concrete way.It is also commonly believed that art influences society
by shaping patterns of belief or meaning, although this too is difficult to establish. It is
undenieable that in capitalist societies art is used for the purpose of manipulation. To
treat art and society as dependent ir independent factors, in the real world the two are
inexticably entwined.
It may be possible to view change in both art and society more clearly by focussing on
the relationships between them.
1.6.3 Definition Of Education

language, in gesture and in movement. They provide for sensory, emotional, intellectual and

Attemps at artistic expression are valued, sel-esteem is enhanced, spontancity and risk

arts that makes participation such as positive experience.
1.7 LIMITATION OF THE STUDY
Having trouble to get full information about the extent to which the subject of art education
can attract students. This is because in malaysia subjects were regarded as having
contributed nothing and is often considered to be insignificant.
In addition, information from the people who want to be interviewed is also important in
this study, particularly in strengthening the fact that we've got. Cooperation of the parties
want to be interviewed also very welcome in this study worked well. The problem of
finding the reference point is also a big problem because not many scientific book on this
issue.
