Andreas Schleicher presents the new findings from the second volume of TALIS Starting Strong. The work of early childhood education and care (ECEC) professionals is the major driver of the quality of an ECEC system. As evidence accumulates on the strong benefits of investing in early education, countries need effective policies to attract, maintain and retain a highly skilled workforce in the sector. This report looks at the makeup of the early childhood education and care workforce across countries, assessing how initial preparation programmes compare across different systems, what types of in-service training and informal learning activities help staff to upgrade their skills, and what staff say about their working conditions, as well as identifying policies that can reduce staff stress levels and increase well-being at work. The report also looks at which leadership and managerial practices in ECEC centres contribute to improving the skills, working conditions and working methods of staff. The OECD Starting Strong Teaching and Learning International Survey (TALIS Starting Strong) is the first international survey that focuses on the early childhood education and care workforce. It offers an opportunity to learn about the characteristics of ECEC staff and centre leaders, their practices at work, and their views on the profession and the sector. This second volume of findings, Building a High-Quality Early Childhood Education and Care Workforce, examines factors that influence the skills development of ECEC professionals, their working conditions and well-being at work, and leadership in ECEC centres.

The NJ section of the American Industrial Hygiene Association is attempting to find legislators to support a bill to require all school districts to support a 45-minute stand down each year for students who will be entering the workforce for the first time. The program is designed to enlighten students about workplace health and safety hazards and responsibility and rights under OSHA. Currently OSHA has information and eTool for young workers and Rutgers School of Public Health has a program to protect students from harm while in school. This NIOSH initiative complies with all NJ child labor laws and can be delivered at the end of each school year similar to drunk driving training provided to students before prom season. Many young people are injured or become sick while at work. Much could be prevented by beginning the conversation about the hazards and controls of these low level and high risk tasks. For more info about the NJ program, visit: www.njaiha.org.

Application: Special Needs From a Variety of Perspectives Throughout this course, you will be studying many topics related to children with special needs. The readings, content reviews, and Discussions will help you gain a valuable base of information. To expand your knowledge, the course Applications will offer ways to explore areas of special needs in more depth and increase your awareness of what it is like to teach and to parent a child with special needs, or to be someone who has been identified with a special need. Before you begin the Week 1 Application, review the outline below in order to plan effectively. Week 1: Write a Brochure on Early Intervention Services. You will imagine yourself in the role of a Child Development Community Liaison for a nonprofit organization that provides programs related to infant/toddler healthy development. Your job is to create a brochure for infant/toddler program directors and caregivers informing them about your services. Week 2: Interview with a Teacher or Caregiver. You will have a choice of interviewing a teacher whose expertise is special education and who works with children ages 3–8, or a teacher or caregiver who has a child or children in his/her setting who have been identified with special needs. Week 3: Research and Information Exchange, Part 1. You will research a category of special needs that is of interest to you in order to gain a greater depth of knowledge. Week 4: Research and Information Exchange, Part 2. You will share, review, and reflect on fellow students' research on different categories of special needs. Week 5: Interview with a Parent of a Child with Special Needs or with a Student or Adult with Special Needs. You will have a choice of interviewing a parent or other close adult family member of a child with special needs, or a person with special needs who would like to share his or her experiences and perspectives. Week 1: Write a Brochure on Early Intervention Services As you have learned this week, early intervention services can include programs for infants and toddlers who may be at risk from biological or environmental issues that could lead to developmental delays or other special needs. One challenge to early intervention service providers is to ensure that they reach out and connect with families. All of the various types of infant and toddler programs in a community, including family day care homes, Early Start, faith-based programs, community organizations, can play an important role in connecting families to available early intervention services. For your Application Assignment this week, imagine that you have been hired as a Child Development Community Liaison for a community organization called The Guidance Center Inc. In reality, this respected, not-for-profit organization serves the communities of Cambridge and Somerville in Massachusetts. As part of The Guidance Center's Early Childhood Services for ages 0–6 , their Infant-Toddler Services include four p.

In 2013, youth development nonprofit Our Piece of the Pie released its school-=based Dashboard that measured student performance. The system, unique to Connecticut, took multiple inputs from a variety of data sources and combined them into an integrated data warehouse. Now, in 2014, OPP has produced Dashboard 2.0 that integrates the original dashboard with a Holistic Performance Index that measures student academic progress, student attendance, student behavior, career- and workforce-readiness, social emotional growth, and credit accumulation.

Wizards are very useful for creating a good user experience. In all businesses, interactive sessions are most beneficial. To improve the user experience, wizards in Odoo provide an interactive session. For creating wizards, we can use transient models or abstract models. This gives features of a model class except the data storing. Transient and abstract models have permanent database persistence. For them, database tables are made, and the records in such tables are kept until they are specifically erased.
