Within Creative Classroom Lab organised by European SchoolNet, the usage of tablets have been explored also with students with Special Education Need.
This presentation shows the outcome and learnings derived from one of the biggest scientific trial run in Europe to assess the effectiveness of digital tools to support students with Special Learning Disabilities (Dyslexia) and Special Education Need.
The scientific trial was run for 2 years (2012-2014) in 8 schools involving more than 400 students.
More details on this research are available at page 37 of SENnet Innovation 2014 Report

8. Training and buy-in is key
Kids
require
minimal
training
as
they
are
used
to
learn
by
doing
EssenGal
is
to
train
teachers:
some
of
them
at
the
beginning
had
psychological
resistance

lack
of
confidence
with
these
devices
Teachers
are
the
ones
that
have
to
make
personalized
lessons
leveraging
the
device:
they
need
examples
to
start
to
create
their
new
classes
Support
at
home
is
very
important
(especially
for
the
younger):
parents
need
to
know
what
their
child
do
at
school
and
how
to
help
them
at
home

• It

can
coexist
