The document announces a "Year of Faith" from October 2012 to November 2013 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Second Vatican Council. It encourages all Catholics to strengthen their faith by professing their belief in the risen Lord in churches and homes. The document outlines some key aspects of the Catholic faith, including that Jesus Christ is the center and fulfillment of faith and scripture. It also discusses the Beatitudes as the heart of Jesus' preaching, which take up God's promises to Abraham and purify our hearts to seek God's love above all else.
1. YEAR OF FAITH
Oct. 11, 2012 – Nov. 24, 2013
50th Anniversary of the Solemn Opening of the Second Ecumenical Vatican Council
The “door of faith” (Acts 14:27) is always open for
us, ushering us into the life of communion with God
and offering entry to His Church.
All the faithful are given the opportunity to profess
our faith in the Risen Lord…
in our cathedrals and in the churches of the whole
world, in our homes and among our families,
so that everyone may feel a strong need to know
better and to transmit to future generations the
faith of all time.
