4. And on those wheels, many hours will be spent circling the track. This lone skater shows no signs of fatigue…
5. A skater and a coach playing a little game of cat and mouse.
6. Each teams "jammer" toes the line and waits for the whistle to blow. When it does they will sprint on their toe stopper s to get as far ahead as possible before their wheels even touch the track.
7. Roller Derby would definitely be considered a full contact sport… If you’re not careful, you just might lose your mouthpiece
8. Speed Junkie This is “Peril Lust.” She used to skate for the Guns N’ Rollers, but after taking some time off she is back on “Fresh Meat,” here she wears the star on her head indicating she’s the jammer, who is the point scorer on the track.
9. “Merch” Another Guns N’ Rollers skater, “Vixen Mary” sells her teams merchandise at the bouts. The demands of skating can sometimes be overwhelming, and this is a good way to stay involved with your team
10. As it turns out, the Guns N' Rollers were the victors of this bout. All the ladies on the team share a celebratory high five, after beating the High Rollers 118-105.
11. After a bout, the girls get all the PBR they can drink, and share a few laughs with fellow team mates. The After Party at The Black Cat Tavern Even the “zebra’s,” a nickname given to referees by the skaters, get a chance to kick back and unwind.
12. Appreciation Most importantly, the Derby Girls get to meet the ones screaming from the bleachers. The Fans. The ones who have helped to support the resurrection of an amazing sport, played by some hardcore amazing women.
