Dynamic Content
= Content from other websites
Dynamic Content
 Stays on your website
 Selected by you
 Changes when you change your website
Similarity Widget
 Uses Rss ( Really Simple Syndication)
 Works like an Rss reader, e.g. Google
Reader
 Scores items based on number of
keywords supplied for each item.
Why Rss?
 Gives people an easy way to find out
what’s new on your website.
 Used by millions ( )
 Digitise once!
 Collaborate!
Our Rss
A page with the similarity widget
Detail view with link to originator
 Originating Website
How it works….
 We publish keywords for each page on our
website.
 A contributing Museum makes rss for our virtual
exhibit and publishes it on a website (theirs or
ours).
 Museum gives us the url (link) to their rss feed
for our virtual exhibit.
 Our similarity widget on our website reads their
rss feed and displays their images with a link
back to their website.
Contributing: The Easy Way
 Fill out a form on Googledocs
 For each object you want to publicise:
 Links to webpages and images on your site.
 Keywords selected from a list supplied by the
virtual exhibit.
 We make an rss feed from this.
 We publish the rss feed.
Contributing: The Hard Way
 Talk to the IT person who runs your CMS
 Is rss available?
 Give IT guy a list of objects with
 Links to web pages and images
 Keywords selected from the virtual exhibit
webpage.
An overview…
Thank You
