To Whom It May Concern:
I am Director of Information Technology at Afni, Inc., which is headquartered in Bloomington, Illinois,
with facilities in five states.
During my tenure at Afni, I supervised Michael Ahern, who was Afni's
Supervisor of Technical Services for the Eastern United States from May 31, 2007 through October 14,
2011. Michael's job responsibilities included: (1) providing leadership and guidance to 6 to 7direct
reports and 8 to 15 total reports; (2) planning, organizing and managing Afni's Desktop environment
including projects to meet customer requirements; (3) working directly with ITS Departments and
external clients to resolve interoperability issues pertaining to desktops required for Afni to perform any
business process; (4) establishing and analyzing productivity and efficiency metrics for the Technical
Services Department in order to maximize the functionality of the Department and staffing requirements
to maximize productivity; and (5) providing regular communication of outages, issues, projects and
strategies to ITS Management and Operations Management.
In Michael's last annual performance review at Afni, his overall performance met the expectations of
Supervisor of Technical Services. During that review period some highlights of Michael's performance
were: (1) Michael was a key player in the preparation of Afni's Leesburg center. His work made the
center launch go much more successfully; (2) for the remodel of Afni's Wylie Drive facility in
Bloomington, Illinois, Michael and his team were able to execute the needed work even with a difficult
tlrnellne laid out; (3) Michael exhibited- a can do attitude when it came to getting tasks done with
pressing deadlines and was also able to shift his focus to immediate needs when situations arose; and
(4) Michael did well at guiding his team to thecompletion of tasks and projects which often had difficult
requirements.
Some highlights from Michael's performance reviews in 2008 and 2009 were: (1) Michael performed
very well in support of a short turnaround contingency setup for one of Afni's important customers,
taking the time to understand the dependencies required for a successful setup and taking the lead on
resolving the conflicts and ensuring the proper applications were available; (2) Michael executed the
BWG PC/OS refresh very well, organizing contract labor efforts, communicating with the site, and
completing the project on time; (3) Michael pressed his team appropriately in improving the speed to
resolution of tickets; and (4) Michael performed well in improving efficiency and reducing costs,
understanding the expectations for cost containment and having a reasonable rationale for thinking in
this area.
Sincerely,
Chris Arrasmith, Director of Information Technology
