Fame Is Overrated, From Jennifer Aniston (VIDEO)
When one viewer asked Jennifer Aniston what she missed the most from the days before she was a
well-known actress, Jennifer told us, "Fame is overrated! It's not what it appears to be." Jen says that
being famous isn't all glitz and glam. "You're doing a job. You go to work, you have co-workers and
you have disagreements, you have a lunch break, and you go home." However, Jen does miss the
days where she could take a walk to the park without getting recognized!

Lets face it -- Jen has fabulous hair, and in FRIENDS (TV Show), she wore "The Rachel" with
confidence and style, never thinking what a style-storm it would create. I should have known -- my
That Girl "flip" became its own iconic hair style. So here we are side-by-side, hair-by-hair -- Rachel
Ann Marie!
When my father was first building St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, he turned to his showbiz
pals to help him raise the vital funds. Jennifer continues that tradition year after year, with her
passionate devotion to the girls and boys of St. Jude. You can see in her many TV spots for St. Jude
(below) just how much the kids adore her. That's because she's become a true and beloved member
of the St. Jude family.
Actors always have a special connection with someone they've worked with in the past, and playing
Jennifer's mom on "Friends" made us real friends. When I was offered the role, I jumped at the
chance because, by then, the cast had already honed its comic chemistry to an art form, and I
couldn't wait to jump in. It was like being invited to a funny party -- and Jen and I hit it off
immediately!
Jennifer is fearless, especially when it comes to taking acting risks. Although many still love her as
Rachel, the funny and vivacious character she portrayed in "Friends," she isn't afraid to accept the
challenge of portraying a person who faces much deeper struggles and doesn't always look like a
million bucks -- like her bold and complicated character in ?"Cake?." I can't wait for you to see her in
this new film -- she's magnificent!
Jennifer has great style, and sets her own trends (she's next month's InStyle cover girl!). Even more
impressive, she customizes her outfits to complement her flair -- whether it's finding the perfect
Saint Laurent jacket to suit her famous frame, or removing the pockets from her Hudson jeans to
make for a more perfect fit. She even tinkers with her tees! As she recently told a reporter, "The
trick to T-shirts is I that I usually tailor them -- which is silly, but it works!"
As they say - it's the thought that counts. When you make that little gesture of thoughtfulness to
someone they never forget it. Like when I was playing Jen's mom on "Friends," she sent me flowers
on Mother's Day. It was such a loving and thoughtful thing to do. It meant so much to me. And I'll
never forget it.
Jennifer doesn't feels pressured to be what everyone else expects of her to be. She charts her own
course and makes her own decisions about what she wants to do -- whether it's getting married or
staying single, settling down to start a family or charging ahead with her career ("And why is it that
we never ask men these kinds of questions, anyway?" she once said to a reporter.) Amen! Jennifer
owns herself and lives her life on her own terms. I love that about her.
She's got discipline! It's no secret that among the many things people admire about Jennifer is her
incredible body -- which is fit and healthy and completely ageless! And she works hard at it: She's
vigorous about her workout regimen (five to six days a week, from cardio and spinning, to Pilates
and yoga); and her diet plan is as tasty as it is nutritious -- from smoothies in the morning, to soups
and salads at night. Discipline folks!
Jennifer has been so supportive of St. Jude. Here we are modeling together in a fashion show in LA
benefitting St. Jude. The night made a lot of money for the kids -- and it was fun too! Not only is she
supportive, Jen is the kind of friend that always has your back. I'll never forget the time we were
filming an episode of "Friends," and I suggested a funny bit of business that I wanted to do in the
scene we were working on. The director said, "Nah, let's not do that," But Jennifer spoke right up
saying, "Hey! She's the Queen of Comedy!" It was so sweet and encouraging. That's why her friends
adore her.
Some people have talent, some people have looks, some people have smarts or style or just plain
decency. Jennifer Aniston is the whole package. I've always championed role models, and I think
that, over the course of her exciting career, Jen has become someone who girls and women can look
up. And as the head of her own production company, she's shown us how to take the reins in our
own lives and make things happen. What can I say? I just love Jennifer Aniston!
