 Secure your DOT ID Information Letter (from the Director)
 Email all requests to DOT@MADEIRA.ORG. While the group is
interdependent, focal areas of expertise are as follows:
◦ Jeff Dayton-Director of Technology: manages and provides
support in all operations; procures hardware & software tools.
◦ Kim Adams-Systems Administrator and Blackboard
Administrator: MAC specialist & hardware issues.
◦ Aeronia Poole-Educational Technology Specialist and Smart
Certified Trainer: instructional technology & application issues.
◦ Kathy Stroop-Systems Administrator: “Jacqueline of all trades”;
hardware & network issues.


 When first using the system, press “Messages” and type
password “221020”
 Follow instructions from the phone
 Remember to change your Cisco Password
 To set up Speed Dials later…
◦ Open Internet Explorer
◦ Type <https://phone.madeira.org/ccmuser>
◦ Type your network user ID (e.g. apoole) & Password (initially 12345; change it here)
◦ Press ENTER
◦ Click “Yes” to answer certificate dialog
◦ Select “Add/Update your Speed Dials” & update or other option

 Solid red light when message(s) are waiting
 If in an Academic Department, press the phone
extension button associated with your name
 Lift the handset and press Messages button
 Enter your password, followed by # sign


 From off-campus dial 703.556.8200 and follow
instructions to select an extension.
 From the Madeira School Telephone Guide:
◦ Note: Phone extension numbers above 8500 are Madeira
internal voice mail extensions. If you trying to reach an
extension above 8500 from off-campus, you’ll need to dial the
following:
 the Madeira Directory line, 703-556-8202.
 press *.
 type your four-digit extension and password.
 If the power is out on campus, and you need to reach security,
please call 703.821.1712 directly.

How to take Class Attendance:
(Photos coincide with student record)

 Go to the MyBackpack website. You can go to this URL:
https://backpack.madeira.org/SeniorApps/
or if you are on a campus computer look for the shortcut on the desktop. You can also access
the link from the Community Login page on the Madeira Website.

 Once you are logged in, click on Class Attendance under the MyClasses column. Ensure
that you have the correct class.
 You will make any individual changes in the Type column. Once all your types are
complete you must click the Apply button. Either button will work.

 You MUST click Apply even if everyone is present!!


How to enter Discipline:
 Go to the MyBackpack website. You can go  Enter the student's last name and click

 All Announcements are grouped so that students can
see what’s up.
 Courses are on the right—this shows only the
enrolled courses in which the teacher/student
participates. Notice that you are enrolled in the VAIS
Self-Study. Notice the courses you are teaching.
 There is a Calendar feature for scheduling tests,
assignments, etc.
 There is a Task feature for helping students pace
themselves in assignments, etc.


 Click on the course
you’d like to modify.
 Click on the Control
Panel option.


 You have three options:
◦ You can type in the last name or the beginning of the
last name to jump to the appropriate student.
◦ You can click on the A-Z tab and find the students
alphabetically. (preferred)
◦ You can scroll through all the names by clicking SEARCH.
 Click the ADD box to add a student to the class. Then
click SUBMIT at the bottom of the screen.
 Repeat this for all students in the course.
 Return to the Control Panel to repeat this for each
course you are teaching.

 All users should learn and exercise proper
file saving techniques.

templates for standard forms (i.e. notes)

held in the computer lab and ETC.


 SMART Interactive Whiteboards are installed
throughout campus classrooms.
 Numerous teacher helps can be found in the
online resources & Teachers Hub
 Smartboard PD workshops are offered by
request on Wednesdays in the ETC.


 Please remember to sign up for future
technology instruction workshops to be held
throughout the year.
