2. Introduction
TITLE: In My Sister´s Shoes
REASON: I’ve chosen this book because the plot
is great
GENRE:It’s a family history based on a true
story
AUTHOR: Sinéad Moriarty
LEVEL: Advanced
3. I have read other books in English but they
were adapted. This book is my first real
English book and I am glad to have read it.
This book was written by Sinéad Moriarty in
2008. It’s a highly entertaining read because
it is great and easy to read and understand.
4. Plot
It is set in Dublin. It is the story of a middle
class family and everybody can relate with the
family because they have the same problems we
have.
The O’Briens family change when a member gets
sick. It´s a difficult situation because the
mother had died of the same illness a few years
before. Kate moves back to Dublin because her
sister’s got cancer and she needs help to look
after the twins. At first Kate hates her life in
Dublin. But she learns to value the small things
day by day. In spite of the fact that Kate
decides to come back to London in the end she
returns to Dublin and starts a new life there.
5. The Characters
There are a few characters in the book but …
The protagonist is Kate O`Brien. She is a
thirty-year-old woman who lives in London
and loves her life as a presenter in a show.
Kate fights with her feelings because Dublin
is the only place she would never like to
come back to.
6. My impressions
I like this book because it is easy to
understand, you can laugh and cry and it
shows a normal situation that everybody can
live at a certain point in their lives.
The best part of the book is when Kate
decides to move back to Dublin because that
is a turning point in her life.
I definitely recommend that you add this to
your collection!
It’s certainly at the top of my list of favourite
books because it shows the strength of a family
