2. Uniform
Unlike the US, the UK tends to have more
private schools rather than public schools.
Even in some cases the public schools in the
UK enforce uniforms because they want to
keep the students on an even level with
everyone else.
Uniforms are worn because:
[x] They look smart
[x] Pupils wont need to spend hours each
school day deciding what they are going to
wear
[x] It gives people a good impression of the
school
[x] Every one wears the same thing so you
cant tell who hasn't got much money
[x] It separates the teachers from the pupils
3. Why?
• Wearing of school uniform is important because it reflects the school's
discipline standards. It is also known that putting on of school uniforms
improves student performance by eliminating unnecessary distractions
over attire and it also saves the parents money by having to buy
expensive clothes to keep up with fashion.
4. Disadvantages to Uniform
[x] Hard to tell people apart.
[x] Some uniforms can be unflattering.
[x] Sometimes forces people to wear clothes they aren't comfortable in.
[x] While you can accessorize (i.e. necklaces, wrist bands, watches etc) you
do not get to wear the clothes you buy.
[x] Takes away individualism and creativity.
[x] Most likely your uniform has the school logo and outside of school
people already know something about you which could lead to someone
pre-judging you based on the school you attend.
5. Pitch
• For this task, our aim is to focus on the publics view about
Uniform and whether they believe it is necessary. In the recent
years, there has been many vigils, protesting against the
reinforcements of Uniform. For example, in 2013 – The French
went on strike on the basis that their uniform was extremely
tight, therefore making them feel uncomfortable. Many believe
because Uniform was worn by members of the army during many
conflicts, it shouldn’t be allowed in this day and age because of
its origin. Therefore, in this short video- our aim is concentrate
on the question ‘Does it really matter?’.
