Rafael joined Lucas Fox as a

6. BARCELONA
MARESME COAST
Barcelona continues to be one of Europeâs most exciting and innovative
cities. Since the Olympics in â92, the city has welcomed a growing
international community, attracted to its excellent beaches, quality of
life, good year-round climate, excellent transport infrastructure and
relatively low property prices compared to many northern European
cities. Given the obvious attractions of living in the city, Barcelona
property remains a viable long-term investment, either as a second
home, rental or permanent residence. Prices are currently at their lowest
for 5 years, on average 30% less than in 2007 and the increased number
of sales transactions in the market seems to suggest that residential
property sales prices are bottoming out. Lucas Fox has its head office in
the centre of Barcelona and its first âProperty Loungeâ opened there in

The Maresme coast lies just to the north of Barcelona and south of the
Costa Brava and has about 50km of long, sandy beaches. The Serralada

a result of the increasing demand from international clients for large

IN SPAIN
The Spanish Government has given the
go-ahead to grant residency permits to
non-EU citizens who invest in Spanish
property over âŹ500,000.
In anticipation of the surge in demand from non-EU nationals,
Lucas Fox has established a division called Residency in Spain
(www.residencyinspain.com), a Joint Venture with ECIJA, one of Spainâs
leading law firms.
The aim is provide advice and support to clients who want to get
residency permits in Spain through property investments. The proposal
is intended to encourage foreign investors to buy in Spain, thereby
assisting the recovery of Spainâs property market.
A key factor is that Spain is a party to the Schengen agreement, meaning
that those with Spanish residency should be able to travel freely within
the Schengen zone (a group of 26 European countries that have
abolished passport and immigration controls at their common borders).

In 2013 Lucas Fox opened the first of its Property Lounges at the company
Headquarters in central Barcelona. The second Property Lounge was opened
soon after in the market town of Alella on the Maresme Coast and further
