This document discusses how to change the display format of a course outline in Moodle from the default topic format to a weekly format, set the number of weeks to display, choose a start date, and set the course's availability to students. Key steps include clicking settings, selecting weekly format and 12 weeks from drop-down menus, setting the start date, and choosing to not make the course available to students.

After you have logged in Moodle, click on the course you want to edit. In this case, click on Demo Course.

By default course outline is arranged by Topic, and 5 topics are displayed.

If you want to change this setting, click the Settings button on the left.

There are 5 other options for you to choose. LAMS course format is another open source LMS but is not available in HKIEd.

SCORM format allows students to read the course content and participate into the activities in SCORM content package but such
package is prepared by other software tools. Social format provides a basic structure of discussion forum for participants to add
topics, so it could be used as a notice board rather than a course outline.

Weekly format - CSS/No tables is almost the same format as Weekly format, but styled by Cascading Style Sheets (CSS)
without using tables for layout. We are simply select Weekly format.

Then click the Number of weeks/topics ïŹeld to open the pull-down menu.

Choose the number of weeks you want to display. In this case, we choose 12.

To set the start date of your course, click the Course start date ïŹelds to open the pull-down menus.
In this case, we set the start date as 1 September 2011.

By clicking the Availability ïŹeld, you can choose whether or not to release the course to students.

After you have ïŹnished, click on Save changes at the bottom of the page.

You can see that the course outline is now arranged by Week, and 12 weeks are displayed as set earlier.

Since we have chosen This course is not available to students, you can see that the course name is dimmed
under My Courses. Students will not be able to see this course under their My courses.
