2. The Cypress Symphony makes classical music relevant
and enriches the himian spirit through superior
performances of symphonic music and community
engagement.
Genesis
The Cypress Symphony is the first orchestra formed for
the Cypress Community. As an outstanding ensemble
making strides in the cultural life of Northwest Houston,
the Symphony offers moving musical experiences and
provides numerous opportunities for community
engagement. With a vision for the future, the Symphony
is dedicated to developing and promoting today s' yoimg
and emerging players. This commitment is illustrated
through private lessons offered by symphony members,
the annual Young Artist Concerto Competition,
educational workshops, and chamber music. The
Symphony's education programs are designed to
integrate the Symphony and its music into the
community in ways that stimulate children of all ages
and form meaningful connections between students and
the organization. All orchestra members actively
participate in the development and execution of these
programs.
Through these concerts and projects, we are enriching
the Cypress community through the creation of new,
exciting performing arts experiences by keeping
classical tnusic alive and fresh.

4. Founder, Kxecntive Director, and Associate Concert master of the Cypress Symphony^
Caroline is an active orchestral musician, freelancer, and teacher in the Houston areik
and beyond. Ms. Ewan has performed with orchestras and chamber music groups in
Texas and abroad, and has had the opportunity to perform with acclaimed artists such
as Midori. Roberto Diaz, ho- Jan van der Werjf, Timothy Pitts. .Jon Kinmra Parker^
and Art Garfunkel. Her dedication to working with young musicians has led many c^i
her students to win top prizes in local and regional competiiiom.
.4s an orchestral mtisician, Ms. Ewan has served as concertmaster of the Baylofi
Symphony, and Assistant Principal Second Hoi in of the Shepherd School Orchestra.
In 2007, Ms. Ewan won a student internship to perform with Waco Symphony
Oichestra and has played with the Lake Charles Symphony Orchestra on .several
occasions. She has played under highly acclaimed conductors Larry Rachlejf
Bohuslav Rattav. and Richard Bado. i: , v
Caroline passionately shares her love of trmsic with the
future generation as an active private violin teacher and
clin.ician in the greater fionston area. Caroline
currently runs her own private violin studio. She has
received thorough pedagogical training from renowned
teachers Kenneth Goldsmith and Minn Zweig, and her
students have participated in severed master classes
with Mr. Goldsmith at Rice University.
An active fi-eelancer in the Houston area, Ms. Ewan frequently performs in weddings,
church services, and other special engagements. Ms. Ewan enjoys travelling to
Canada, her home country, where she has attended the Symphony Orchestra .Academy
of die Pacific in British Coh4mbia, and the Domaine Forget festival in St. Irenee,
Quebec. A-fe. Ewan has also performed chamber music in Times Square, NBM' York
City
A native of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Ms. Ewan is currently pursuing a master's degree at
Rice University, studying violin with Kenneth Goldsmith. Ms. Ewan received her
bachelor's degree in tnusic from Baylor University, graduating magna cum laude. Ms.
Ewan is the recipient of numerous honors including the Baylor University President's
Scholcu-ship, the Baylor University Music Scholarship, and a Rice University Music
Scholarship. She is currently the graduate assistant to Kenneth Goldsnnth, professor
(f violin at Rice University's Shepherd School of Music. Her former teachers have
included Dr. Bruce Berg and Hemy Rubin. She has also coached with Kathleen
Winkler, Eric tlalen, Brian Connelly. Burton Kaplan, Denise Lupien. and the Takucs
String Quartet.
