I know there are many people out there who donÂŽt like garlic. Who
donÂŽt like the smell and the taste of it. But you should consider all
those benefits you can get from this wonderful vegetable.
(Honestly saying even experts still discuss about it if garlic is a
vegetable or a Spice. And i must tell you that i also donÂŽt know the
answer).

of the tuber, such as the many vitamins (vitamins A, B, C),
minerals (e.g., potassium and selenium), but also the valuable
phytochemicals such as polyphenols or sulfides. In addition, garlic
has a high content of adenosine, which is as a building block for

2. In addition, there is a positive effect of garlic on blood lipids. Thus,
February 2014
several studies have clearly shown that the ingredients of the leek
crop reduce blood lipid levels and therefore preventive against
diseases of the blood vessels, such as atherosclerosis
etc. Cholesterol levels can be significantly reduced by the total of
regular garlic consumption.
My great grandmother was a big fan of garlic. She wrote: âEat
garlic because it keeps you fit and young!â She advices that you
should eat garlic in the evening then you will have a better effect.
The reason for it is quite simple and logical. The Cholesterol level
rises commonly during your sleep. If you ate garlic in the evening
the Cholesterol level keeps low.
There is also an advice for women who always suffer of having
cold feet. If you eat garlic regularly your feet will not be cold
anymore.
Well, maybe it is time to order a Pizza with Garlic or Spagetthi
aglio olio. Just try it!

Household remedy for
5. insomnia (2)
Posted on February 20, 2014 by Miss Conceptions â Leave a comment â
Another old household remedy (you will not believe but it was
already used in the Middle Ages) is Onion-Milk. Here you can
read now how it is to prepare:
Add 0,25 Liter Milk into a Pot, peel 1 Onion and cut it in 2 halves.
Warm the Milk on the Stove with low heat (Not boil it! just make it
warm). Add the 2 halves of the Onion into the Milk (The 2 cuttings
must face the bottom). Then let it brew for 15 Minutes. At the end
put the Milk into a cup and enjoy it lukewarm.
Just try it out!

Household remedy for
insomnia (1)
Posted on February 19, 2014 by Miss Conceptions â Leave a comment â
7. I guess everyone had already sleepless nights in their life. It can
be very unpleasant when you tossing and turning in the bed and
you cannot fall asleep. And the more you search for sleep the
lesser you will find sleep. There can be many reasons for it. One
reason could be stress in the job or in the social environment. All
these thoughts turn into fear, sadness and dejection which affects
the nightâs rest. Of course there are many more possibilities for
insomnia. If it occurs more often you need to consult a doctor for
making a check up. But if you are sleepless just from time to time
you should not use sleeping pills immediately as there will be
many side effects.
There are different household remedies to make you sleep. One
advice from my great grandmother is this:
Take two Teaspoon fir needles and crush them roughly. Then put
them into a cup and add boiling water and brew for 1 minute
(please notice that it cannot be longer!). Then strain the fir needles
and add some honey into the liquid. Drink it in sips when it is
warm.
Just try it out!

The benefits of Sage
Posted on February 19, 2014 by Miss Conceptions â Leave a comment â
9. Sage is found naturally on dry, calcareous hills in southern Europe,
and northern Africa. In ancient times, it was one of the most highly
esteemed of all plants because of its reputed health-insuring
properties. An old adage reads, âHow can a man die in whose
garden sage is growing?â Its very names betoken the high regard
in which it was held; salvia is derived from salvus, to be safe, or
salveo, to be in good health or to heal; (hence also salvation!) and
officinalis stamps its authority or indicates its recognized official
standing. The name sage, meaning wisdom, appears to have had
a different origin, but as the plant was reputed to strengthen the
memory, there seems to be ground for believing that those who
ate the plant would be wise.
Because of their highly aromatic odor sage leaves have long been
used for seasoning dressings, especially to disguise the too great
lusciousness of strong meats, such as pork, goose and duck. It is
one of the most important flavoring ingredients in certain kinds of
sausage and cheese. In France the whole herb is used to distill
with water in order to secure essential oil of sage, a greenishyellow liquid employed in perfumery. About 300 pounds of the
stems and leaves yield one pound of oil.
Sage has many benefits. Most important is that it can help when
you have a sore throat and when you are sweating a lot, especially
during the night.
My great grandmothers advice for reducing sweating would be
this:
Take 1 Liter of water and add 3 Tablespoons of Sageleaves. Boil
the water for 3 minutes (Be careful and donât leave the pot alone).
Then you strain the liquid and drink a glass. The rest of the water
you drink during the day. Repeat this for several days. You will
soon feel the result.
Just try it out!

Reducing the hunger
Posted on February 18, 2014 by Miss Conceptions â Leave a comment â
11. Did you also try different diets? Sometimes you spent a wealth for
expensive pills and diet drinks etc. So did i. Sometimes with
success, sometimes with less success. Of course we all know that
the best thing to keep in shape is to be active and to have a
balanced diet.
There is different foodstuff to reduce the hunger. One fruit of it is
the honeydew melon. Eat from time to time slices of a honeydew
melon as snack. It includes lot of water, vitamins, minerals and
makes you feel full.
May great grandmother also had this advice for reducing hunger:
Drink every hour (starting from 9 am until 6 pm) a glass warm
water with a dash of lemon juice inside.
You will see, it makes you feel great. Just try it out!

The benefits
13. of cucumbers
Posted on February 16, 2014 by Miss Conceptions â Leave a comment â
I am sure you made this experience already before. It is very hot
outside and the heat makes you feel very down, dizzy, tired and
worn out. Your energy level is very low and how often you refresh
yourself you still feel very hot. My great grandmother used a
simple trick to refresh herself on hot days. She ate cucumbers.
Either raw or as salad with a yoghurt dressing. The cucumber
consists of 95% water and inside there are a lot of minerals and
vitamins included. Eating a cucumber has the same effect like
drinking an electrolyte drink.
The skin is very good if you have digesting problems. When you
feel very full you should eat a few slices of cucumbers with skin
and it will boost your lame digesting system.
Last but not least there is a big effect for your skin. It is not just a
joke to put slices of the cucumber on your face. Because of the
high water content and its minerals, vitamins it has a very relaxing
and refreshing effect for your skin. A cucumber is the perfect food
for your skin. Have it for 15 minutes on your face and you feel like
newborn.
It is not a big deal to get the positive effects of a cucumber. Just try
it out!

14. My great grandmother
Posted on February 16, 2014 by Miss Conceptions â Leave a comment â
My great grandmother
I had the wonderful luck to see my great grandmother when she
was still alive. I was just a small girl but I will always remember this
old woman. She had a friendly face, a very pleased and happy
smile and sparkling eyes although she was already in her late
80ies. She lived a dignified life and everyone respected her and
the way she was like. The most amazing thing I can tell about her
is her strength and good health also when she was already very
old. She had to problems to hike long distances. She very often
even preferred to walk half an hour longer instead of taking a bus
or taxi. Her mind was always clear and her thoughts always
focused. Today you would call such kind of woman a
âPowerwomanâ. Yes, indeed she was a Powerwoman, in every
aspect of her life. For me, as small girl with just 8 years she was
surrounded by a magical aura. In spite of the fact that she had
white hair and many wrinkles in her face I was very fascinated of
her.
You may ask now why I write this all about her. The answer is
simple: She had a huge knowledge of household remedies and
she knew always what kind of herbal medicine could cure a
specific disease. She was often outside in the nature and collected
flowers, plants, herbs, fruits, vegetables etc. When someone told
her about her health problems she always had an advice for this
person how to cure with herbal medicine.
She even wrote down in a notebook, you could say her personal
diary what treatments are needed to cure a disease or to keep fit
and healthy. I am lucky to be in possession of her notebook. It is
very worn out and her writing is very hard to read and it took me a
lot of time and effort to rewrite it but finally I was able to do it and I
would be very happy to share some secrets of her with you.
