One Tiny Wheat Seed

          By:
  Maggie

          Herrera

Once
  upon
  a
  2me,
  there
  was
  a
  li:le
  red

hen
  named
  Diana.
  One
  sunny
  day
  ,
  she

exclaimed
  ,
  “I
  will
  find
  a
  li:le
  wheat

seed
  ,
  and
  then
  I
  will
  plant
  it

  ,
  cook
  it
  ,

and
  the
  make
  some
  TASTY
  wheat

bread!”
  The
  very
  next
  day
  ,
  as
  Diana

said
  ,
  that
  quote
  came
  true
  ,
  but
  ,
  she
  is

going
  to
  need
  help
  from
  other
  animals

from
  the
  barn
  she
  lives
  in
  .
  Once
  she
  got

to
  the
  barn
  ,
  she
  asked
  Sarah
  ,
  the
  pre:y

Ki:y,
  Olly
  the
  outrageous
  cow,
  and,

Gary,
  the
  grabby
  hoarse.
  “Would
  any
  of

you
  like
  to
  help
  me
  plant
  my
  wheat
  ?”

Diana
  begged,
  “Of
  course
  not.”
  Gary

neighed,
  stomping
  his
  hooves,
  “I’ll
  miss

lunch!”
  he
  snorted,
  turning
  away,
  No,

No,
  No,
  !”
  Olly
  shouted
  ,
  mooing
  angrily,

“Absolutely
  not
  !
  My
  fur
  will
  get
  dirty!!!!

If
  the
  farmer
  finds
  me
  all
  dirty,
  because

of
  you,
  I
  will
  lose
  The
  Most
  Cool
  Cow
  On

The
  Plow
  contest
  !
  I
  just
  know
  I’ll
  win!”

sneered
  Olly,
  whipping
  Diana
  on
  the

beak.
  “YAOOW!”
  howled
  Diana
  almost

in
  tears,
  grasping
  her
  beak.
  Then,
  she

went
  to
  check
  on
  her
  wheat
  plant,
  while

she
  was
  waddling
  along,
  she
  was

grumbling
  to
  herself,
  and
  she
  was
  so

mad
  she
  looked
  like
  a
  bright
  red
  tomato.

She
  was
  planning
  on
  how
  to
  get
  them

back,
  but,
  behind
  Diana,
  Sarah
  and
  Gary

were
  listening
  in
  on
  her
  grumbling
  .

Sarah,
  however,
  could
  hear
  perfectly

because
  she
  could
  catch
  up
  with
  Diana.

Gary,
  on
  the
  other
  hand,
  could
  barley

hear
  her
  because
  he
  was
  extremely
  slow

Because
  his
  hooves
  were
  terribly
  loud,

and
  he
  was
  afraid
  that
  he
  would
  get

caught
  .
  “come
  on,
  slow
  poke!”
  Sarah

hissed,
  “I
  don’t
  want
  to
  be
  loud!”
  Gary

whispered,
  with
  a
  evil
  look
  .
  Then,
  out

of
  no
  where,
  Sarah
  stepped
  on
  a
  rope,

and
  the
  rope
  pulled
  her
  up
  a
  tree.
  She

started
  to
  toss
  and
  turn
  and
  hiss
  and

scream
  for
  help.
  “I’ll
  get
  you
  down!”

screamed
  Gary,
  then
  he
  pulled
  off
  a
  nail

from
  his
  hoarse
  shoe,
  and
  threw
  it.
  It
  hit

the
  rope,
  and
  Sarah
  came
  tumbling

down.
  “MY
  FUR!!!”
  shrieked
  Sarah
  ,

covered
  in
  dirt,
  “ That
  was
  how
  it
  felt

when
  you
  did
  not
  help
  me!”
  yelled
  a

voice
  that
  sounded
  mysterious
  but
  then

they
  remembered
  that
  voice.
  It
  was

Diana’s
  voice.
  “Here
  I’ll
  help
  you
  get-‐”

“No,
  I
  got
  it.”
  purred
  Sarah,
  laughing
  at

the
  prank.
  “I
  just
  wanted
  to
  show
  you

how
  it
  felt
  when
  you
  guys
  didn’t
  help

me
  with
  my
  wheat.”
  sighed
  Diana
  .
  Now

I
  know
  how
  it
  feels.”
  giggled
  Sarah.
  “hey,

speaking
  of
  wheat
  can
  we
  help
  you

make
  the
  bread,
  and
  can
  we
  help
  you
  …

eat
  it?”
  Gary
  pleaded,
  “Sure
  .
  Last
  one

there
  is
  a
  ro:en
  loaf
  of
  bread!”
  yelled

Diana,
  laughing
  at
  the
  same
  2me.
  So

they
  ran
  to
  cut
  the
  wheat,
  and
  a
  few

days
  later
  they
  all
  ate
  the
  wheat
  bread,

spoke
  and
  laughed
  at
  their
  jokes.

“Family
  is
  more
  important
  than
  your

self,
  like
  this
  one.”
  “YEAH!!!”
  they
  all

agreed
  as
  they
  ate.
