My two best friends are

reason why I am writing
about the black bear is
because I think this
animal is very
interesting.
3. Who Am I?
The animal you will be
reading about is the
black bear. The black
bear can live up to be
30 years old. And the
oldest bear to live was
at the age of 26 years
old. Also the American
black bear is the
smallest bear out of the
three bears.
4. Early Years
The black bear’s young
is called a cub. The cub
may stay with it’s
mother for a year and a
half or more. A black
bear may have up to 1-
6 cubs but 2 is the most
common. When the cub
is born it weighs 1/2
pound to 1 pound.
5. Habitat Sweet Habitat
The black bear is
mostly found in
forested areas. The
bears can also be
found in meadows
and fields. But you
won’t see them in
the winter because
they will be
hibernating.

What the black bear
eats is plants, fruits,
nuts, insects, honey,
salmon, and small
mammals.

The black bear’s
tracks are like a
circle for the palm
and for the toes it is
like rounded
triangles. The black
bear has five toes
on each paw.

The largest black bear
weighed at 880 pounds.
