8. How to Create a Word Cloud
• Choose a topic and write or find words that go
with that topic
• Choose a website that is bookmarked on your
computer to create the word cloud (websites are listed on
the resource page as well)
• Type in the words and choose the create or go
button (some of the websites will allow you to
choose shapes and colors before clicking the
create or go button)
• Save your word cloud to a file so that you can
reference it in your lesson
9. Your Turn: Creating a Word Cloud
• Pick a Topic (suggestion look at your new Reading Series and
find a topic that will enhance that lesson/theme
• Make a list of words that are associated with your topic or
that you want the students to be familiar with during the
lesson
• Use one of the websites for creating word clouds that is
provided and type in the words
• Create your word cloud
• Now try another word cloud site and another set of words
• Save your word clouds to use for your reading lessons.
• Email me a copy of your completed word clouds.
