2. Canada and the Iroquoia When the French arrived in North America they used the Native Americans as allies The French wanted to be able to have access to the fur and fish that was in the areas that they colonized so they bent to the Indian trading policies
3. Canada and the Iroquoia The Iroquoia were hunters and gatherers Most of the Indians of North Eastern America practiced this kind of economy The French did not ally themselves with the Iroquoia because of their more southern home But they would later violently disrupt the French colony
4. Canada and the Iroquoia When the Indians first began to trade with the French they traded based on their cultural standards The French would trade their goods including kettles and alcohol The Indians began to drink heavily as well as adapt to a more Western lifestyle

6. French America Not only did the French colonize and settle the Canadian areas but they also moved into the Mississippi Valley and Louisiana Although they controlled the most amount of land in North America they still depended on the Indians to defend their smaller numbers
