25. Rules of Thumb
 Perfectly understand the content and intention.
 Have a perfect knowledge of the source language and an
equally excellent knowledge of the target language.
 Choose the right words and right syntax to produce a total
overall effect. (Sometimes it is the easy words that cause the
most problems)
 Avoid the tendency to translate word for word. It often
destroys the meaning of the original and ruins the flow and
naturalness of the expression.
 Use the common and popular forms of usage.
 Use the appropriate tone.
