Demystifying Lucifer
"How you are fallen from heaven, O Day
Star [Lucifer], son of Dawn! How you are
cut down to the ground, you who laid the
nations low!
[Isaiah 14:12]
2. 2
Popular belief about Lucifer
Many Christians believe that back
around the beginning of time, the devil
was once named Lucifer. Lucifer was
created by God, and was once a perfect
and beautiful cherub or angel. He was
created to serve and worship God, but
he was created with the ability to have
freedom of choice. Lucifer chose to
serve himself instead of God. His heart
became filled with pride because of his
beauty, and he became rebellious
(disobedient) against God. He believed
he could be like God the most High.
God then cast Lucifer out of heaven
because of his sin…and he then set
about tempting humanity to sin..
3. 3
Close examination of Lucifer
Lucifer is a Latin word
meaning “light-bearing”
Most translations do
not use this word as it
is ‘Latin’
The correct translation
is “Day Star”

Morning Star - Venus
Venus reaches its
maximum brightness
shortly before sunrise or
shortly after sunset, for
which reason it is often
called the Morning Star
or the Evening Star.
5. 5
Morning Star - Venus
Venus is always brighter than
any star (apart from the Sun).
The orbit of Venus is inside
the orbit of Earth
Venus "overtakes" the Earth
every 584 days as it orbits
the Sun.
As it does so, it changes from the
"Evening Star", visible after
sunset, to the "Morning Star",
visible before sunrise.
6. 6
Evening Star
The orbit of Venus is inside
the orbit of Earth.
When Venus is on one side of
the Sun, it's trailing the Sun
in the sky and brightens into
view shortly after the Sun
sets, when the sky is dark
enough for it to be visible.
When Venus is at its
brightest, it becomes visible
just minutes after the Sun
goes down.
This is when Venus is seen as
the Evening Star.
7. 7
Morning Star – Announcing
the arrival of Light
When Venus is on the other
side of the Sun, it leads the
Sun as it travels across the
sky.
Venus will rise in the morning
a few hours before the Sun.
Then as the Sun rises, the
sky brightens and Venus
fades away in the daytime
sky.
This is Venus the Morning
Star.

Significance of 'stars' in
scriptures
The star was the ancient
emblem of sovereignty
I see him, but not now; I behold
him, but not near: a star shall
come out of Jacob, and a scepter
shall rise out of Israel; it shall
crush the forehead of Moab and
break down all the sons of Sheth.
[Numbers 24:17]
saying, "Where is he who has
been born king of the Jews? For
we saw his star when it rose and
have come to worship him."
[Matthew 2:2]

Significance of stars in
scriptures
It is well known that sun, moon,
and stars are emblems, in
prophetic language, of rulers &
kingdoms.
Stars represent lesser powers:
And God made the two great lights--
the greater light to rule the day and
the lesser light to rule the night--
and the stars. [Genesis 1:16]
Then he dreamed another dream
and told it to his brothers and said,
"Behold, I have dreamed another
dream. Behold, the sun, the moon,
and eleven stars were bowing
down to me." [Genesis 37:9]

that the people offered themselves willingly, bless

Jdg 5:14 From Ephraim their root they marched
down into the valley, following you, Benjamin,
with your kinsmen; from Machir marched down
the commanders, and from Zebulun those who
bear the lieutenant's staff; ... Jdg 5:15 the princes
of Issachar came with Deborah, .. Jdg 5:20 From
heaven the stars fought, from their courses they
fought against Sisera.

Babylon was referred to as the golden city,

How could Tyre have known
about the God of Israel?
King David and
Solomon had positive
influence on the kings
of Tyre
Hiram, king of Tyre was
very influential in
building God’s temple
2Ch 2:5 And the house
which I build is great:
for great is our God
above all gods.
1Ki_5:1-11; 1Ki_9:10-11;
2Ch_2:3-16
And Solomon sent to Huram the
king of Tyre, saying, As thou
didst deal with David my father,
and didst send him cedars to
build him an house to dwell
therein, even so deal with me.
Behold, I build an house to the
name of the LORD my God, to
dedicate it to him, and to burn
before him sweet incense, and
for the continual shewbread,
and for the burnt offerings
morning and evening, on the
sabbaths, and on the new
moons, and on the solemn
feasts of the LORD our God.
This is an ordinance for ever to
Israel. [2 Chronicles 2:3-4]

Tyre had a relationship /
covenant with Israel?
Amo 1:9 The LORD said: I
will punish Phoenicia for
countless crimes, and I
won't change my mind. They
broke their treaty and
dragged off my people from
town after town to sell them
as slaves to the Edomites.
2Ch 2:12 Hiram also said,
"Blessed be the LORD God of
Israel, who made heaven
and earth, who has given
King David a wise son, who
has discretion and
understanding, who will
build a temple for the LORD
and a royal palace for himself.
Tyre was a ally of Israel
since David’s time
They were to be a guardian
to Israel and God allowed
them to prosper.
Once they became rich they
had no respect for the true
God of Israel and declared
themselves as God and did
wicked things
The friendly relations between Tyre
and Israel (Solomon supplying grain
and oil in return for Hiram's timber,
metals, and workmen) were again
renewed when Ahab married the
Sidonian king Ethbaal's (or Ithobal
king of Tyre, according to Menander,
in Josephus Ant. 8:13, section 2)
daughter.

The fate of Lucifer
Popular beliefs have it that
Lucifer was cast onto the
earth (punished) to torment
man (seems like a reward!)
But in v18 we are told that
he was “destroyed” by fire
and turned to “ashes”
So if you 'believe' in a Mr.
Lucifer he was burned to
ashes and does no longer
exist "in the sight of all"
Eze 28:18 By the
multitude of your
iniquities, in the
unrighteousness of your
trade you profaned your
sanctuaries; so I
brought fire out from
your midst; it consumed
you, and I turned you to

Eze 28:18 By the multitude of

in the sight of all who saw you.

on of man, take up a lament concerning the king of
Tyre and say to him:
Through your widespread trade
you were filled with violence,
and you sinned.
So I drove you in disgrace from the mount of God,
and I expelled you, guardian cherub,
from among the fiery stones.
Your heart became proud
on account of your beauty,
and you corrupted your wisdom
because of your splendor.
So I threw you to the earth;
I made a spectacle of you before kings.
