Highlights
According to the Association of British Insurers (ABI), false insurance claims
increased by 10% in 2010 compared to 2009 figures.
Motor insurance fraud has been the main focus of attention for insurers, mainly due
to the costs associated with such claims and the impact they have on average
premiums.
The Insurance Fraud Register will be launched in 2012, under the approval of the
General Insurance Council. The purpose of the register is to allow insurers to actively
share information on fraudsters, who tend to move from one insurer to another.
