TEST ANXIETY
It is the feeling of fidgety and
tense, or even sick to your
stomach just a few minutes to
wait before the instructor puts
a test in front of you.

Tips to control it by
practicing the following:


RELEAVING TEST ANXIETY

1. Get enough sleep



2. Eat a good meal prior
to the test.



3. Exercise to reduce
tension and stimulate
thinking.



4. Take a shower.


5. Allow enough time to
arrive in class without
hurrying for it causes tension;
the fear of being late builds
anxiety.


6. Provide yourself with
time in the classroom to
relax and compose
yourself.


7. Review with your friends
or do not review with your
friends just prior to test.


8. Thumb through your books
and notes or do not thumb
through your books and
notes just prior to the test.



9. Develop a positive
attitude.


10. Make sure you can
see a clock, plan your
time, and pace yourself.


11. Choose your seat
carefully.


12. Begin by filling in the
answer you know.


13. Do not panic if others
are busy writing and you
are not.


14. Do not panic if you
forget an answer.


15. Do not worry if others

STRATEGIES FOR TAKING TEST

1. Arrive early.



2. Bring all materials to
class with you.



3. Listen carefully to your
instructor’s directions and
comments.



4. Look over the test,
reading the directions
carefully.



5. Budget your time.



6. Write down key facts or
formulas in the margin.



7. Look for qualifying
words (never, always,
rarely, often, seldom,
many and so on).



8. Answer easy questions
first.


TRICKS FOR TAKING TESTS

TRUE OR FALSE


1. Beware of qualifying
words. Words such as
always, all, none, never,
and so on usually will
make a statement false.



2. Look at the length of the
statement.



3. Be aware of the false
logic.



4. Answer objective
questions before essay
questions.



5. If you do not know the
answer, make a mark
next to the question and
try to complete it later.



6. Guess at answer you do
not know, unless there is a
penalty for guessing.



7. Change your answers
only if you are sure they
are wrong.



8. Use all the time
allowed.



9. Guess if you do not
know the answer.



MULTIPLE CHOICE


1. Eliminate the answer(s)
that is(are) obviously
incorrect first.



2. Read the question
carefully.



3. Read all choices.



4. Pay attention to “all of
the above” questions.



5. Look for the longest
answer.



MATCHING TYPE


1. Read the list on the right
first which contains the
answer of choices, so that
you are aware of all
possibilities for answers.



2. If you are unsure of an
answer, mark the question
and return to it later.

COMPLETION



1. Reread the questions
several times.



2. Look for context clues.
