Digital Natives: term coined by Mark Prensky.. Those who have been born into a digital era – immersed in a digitally rich world Most say those born after 1980. AKA Millennial, Gen Y, Net Generation….not really Gen X
1980s technology… These students in college classrooms for last 10 years! Class of 2003-on
I’m not here to preach to you about technology; Tell you how to teach your classes; Or to tell you that ALL digital natives are the same and learn the same. These students are adept at figuring things out, comfortable w/tech, but they’ve not necessarily been taught how to apply technology for school and work activities. One size does NOT fit all for students or educators! Not ALL digital natives like technology…the term simply refers to the time period which they were born

I think a lot of us might feel like this
The reality is that this IS their world. We educators play an essential role in shaping the future and these children! And, we can learn a lot from them as we guide them to become skilled critical thinkers and creative members of society. They do not look down upon us. They are yearning to be guided, empowered, creative individuals!!!
Besides look at all of us and what’s going on all around to all of us! Can you feel the impact on your own communication, learning, social preferences?
Hooked on gadgets and happy about it!
Social is the Behavior - Media is the channels.
In a Digitally AND SOCIALLY rich Blended world!! That is INTERACTIVE, PARTICIPATORY, CREATIVE!
