2. About our work
0 During my prelim task I worked with ying ho, prince and owen. We split the
task with me being on camera, ying ho calling out the shots and both owen
and prince were acting. We had made a story board and script to guide us
through the task.
0 We had a few issues when it came to time management due to the fact our
tape was empty when we received it which meant we had a bit more extra
time to do our filming. When we had problems we dealt with it pretty well as
we went through and discussed our problems and made sure the same
problem didn’t occur again.
0 We had a few weaknesses yet quite a lot of strength. Our weaknesses were
getting certain shots right the first time which meant we had to repeat it
again but it wasn’t too bad as we only had to repeat it about 3 times till we
got the shot right. Our strengths were getting on with our filming and
working together as a team in order to get things done, if a problem had
occurred our team members were very reliable as they helped. I personally
think we made a good team as we worked well together, we were helpful
when someone had a problem although sometimes we did have a bit of a
giggle we still got our work done with little problems.
3. Planning process
0 When we planned our sequence we made a
storyboard and a script. On our storyboard we had
drawn our shots we were going to film for our task,
we had about 12 shots that we had filmed to make our
video successful. The script had the words and actions
we had to do
0 We had followed most of Stewarts processing when he
showed us an example of the video and how to video
it although we had added a slight twist to ours as we
done our shots differently.
4. Use of technology
0 When doing our task we had used professional canon
camcorders, we had placed it on a tripod for all of our
shots that we had done.
0 I have learnt quite a lot about the camcorder which
are; they focus better when they are on a tripod, you
can change up the focus of the lens, some of the
different shots you take with the camera and using the
imaginary thirds when placing the camera. I had
learnt very little about using cameras as I have a
pretty good camera knowledge.
5. factors
0 There were a lot of factors to take into consideration for
planning and shooting.
0 Planning – we had to make sure all the shots were correct
and made sense so our video can come out as desired. We
had rehearse our task before we performed it just to make
sure it was done correctly and prevent wasting time during
the shooting.
0 Shooting – When shooting it was important to call out the
shots so we can keep on track, it was also important that
before we had videoed the shot we knew when to cut the
video so it doesn’t get all confused.
6. Successes
0 Our sequence was very successful as we had done the
shots correctly even though we had to repeat some shots
twice. We made sure that our close up shots had some
space over the head, our pan shots had followed the
character carefully etc. our storyboard and script came out
pretty well as the sequence was correct after it was edited,
we were all serious and determined to finish on time and
do well. Overall, I believe we were a very good team as we
all had our strengths and weaknesses and didn’t leave
anyone behind.
0 If we had to change or improve something(s) it would have
to be being more serious all time as sometimes we fell off
task and had a bit of a laugh which we shouldn’t of done.
7. What I have learnt?
0 I have learnt different things from the prelim task from different aspects
such as; team work, time management, technical and organization.
0 Team work – We all have our different strengths and weaknesses and it’s
important to help your team improve by helping each other when they are
falling behind, it’s important to all work at the same pace as there is no ‘I’ in
team, you should always have a good bond with your team and it’s important
to be serious at all times.
0 Time management – Everything should always be planned before hand,
always double check your work to avoid wasting any time and do what you
plan to do in the time you’ve planned
0 Technical – how to use certain features in the camcorders such as focusing
the lens, setting up the tripod, the spirit level of the camera should always be
in the correct point and everyone makes mistakes its normal to have to
repeat a shot again
0 Organization – always have things prepared for the right time even if it
means using outside of your team work time.
