2. Student Announcementfor the Fall 2011 Credit by Examination As specified on page 16 of the Samuel Clemens Student/Parent Handbook, credits required for graduation may be earned through Credit by Examination. Credit by Examination for the Fall semester will be offered after school on November 16, and December 1st and 8th. A grade of 90 must be achieved to receive Credit by Examination. The registration deadline for Credit by Examination is Monday October 17th. Registration forms, which require a parent’s signature, are available in the Counselors’ Office. For more information, see your Counselor.

3. Clemens National Honor Society The Clemens National Honor Society will meet Thursday, Oct 13th before and after school in Room D-103 (Mr. Chavez’s Classroom)

4. Come out and cheer for our Freshmen and JV football teams! Freshmen play Thursday night against Canyon at Canyon. Game times: B team-5:30 p.m./A team-7:00 p.m. JV plays against Canyon at home. Game time: 5:30 p.m. GO BUFFS!!!

5. GO FIGHT WIN! FRIDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL! The BUFFALOES face the Canyon Cougars at Canyon Friday night! Kick off is at 7:30 p.m. Adult : $6 Student: $3 All tickets are $7 at the gate. Tickets can be purchased at the Athletic Office Tuesday – Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Friday 8:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. GO BUFFS!

FIRST AMENDMENT ESSAY CONTEST Offered by- The San Antonio Chapter of Americans United for the Separation of Church and State Essay contest on the topic “What the First Amendment Means to me” Essays should be no longer than 500 words. Open to all grade levels. The winning entry will receive a $500 cash prize! Come to the Counseling Office for more information.

Service Academy Deadlines SENIORS— Congressman Lamar Smith has a deadline of October 22, 2011 for students who wish to compete for a nomination to one of the four United States Service Academies (WestPoint, Naval Academy, Air Force Academy and Merchant Marine Academy). If you live in the 21st Congressional district and are interested, please come by the Counseling Office as soon as possible for more information.
