Helen Keller was born in 1880 in Alabama and became deaf and blind at age 2 due to illness. She learned to communicate through hand signals with her teacher Annie Sullivan and went on to write books and advocate for others who were deaf or blind, showing what people with disabilities can achieve. Keller died in 1968 at age 87, having inspired many through her accomplishments despite her disabilities.
