New Online Community for Open Innovation Professionals Hosted by
Professors Chesbrough, Vanhaverbeke and Roijakkers
MOOI is a new online community of OI-professionals who want to collaborate in discussing,
structuring and qualifying best practices of “Managing and Organizing Open Innovation.”
MOOI offers a platform to bring open innovation management one level up by examining a new
management challenge each month during one year. The insights developed around each
management theme will be summarized in an e-book, which the Project Team – Prof. Henry
Chesbrough - UC Berkeley, Prof. WimVanhaverbeke - UHasselt and ESADE, and Dr. Nadine
Roijakkers -UHasselt – intend to publish mid 2015.
InnovationManagement.se launched the MOOI community in November 2013.Since the start it has
attracted over 120 leading innovation experts from organizations as diverse as Unilever, Siemens,
Alcatel-Lucent, Mondelez International (the global snacking and food brands of the former Kraft
Foods), Philips Consumer Lifestyle, Akzo Nobel Chemicals, McCain Foods Ltd., Ernst & Young,
WWF Switzerland and the Brussels Enterprise Agency.
The first Tuesday of each month the forum members are invited to a live theme presentation hosted by
InnovationManagement.se. Previous themes in the MOOI Forum have covered topics such as open
innovation & strategy and the role of top management. The theme coming up in March focuses on
Human Resources’ strategic role in Open Innovation, for example, how to recruit, select, train, etc. for
open innovation through online learning programs: What skills, attitudes, personalities are needed?
The most active and thoughtful contributors for the forum and web session each month are invited to a
private conversation with professors Chesbrough, Vanhaverbeke and Roijakkersto delve deeper into the
theme at hand.
