From a Cook Job to Cooking Online: Internet Chef Transition
Having a cook job is a ROUGH life?
It’s hard every night…
…the big push when everyone wants to eat at the same time…
…the chef helling out orders when your board is FULL…
…the slight burns on your forearm when you’re moving too fast to remember.
A cook job is a really tough life. However, it’s extremely rewarding. There is nothing like the adrenaline rush of a big push, the
camaraderie between all the cooks, and laughing and joking that ensues on the line.
But at some point, a cook JUST burns out.
How can you get that SAME satisfaction of cooking without the burnout?
I can talk about the cook’s life so well because for only 4 years, I had a cook job as well. I worked at two fairly known restaurants
in the Boston area, and LOVED IT!
However, there is a certain grind to it that, when you stop and think about it, can really wear someone out.
Tell me if this is your typical cook job day.
Wake up at 9, 10, or 11AM…
Get to work by 12 (and I often PUSHED the limits a few times and showed up at 1, even 2. The chef was NEVER happy.)…
Cook till 10, 11PM, or even 12AM depending on what time the restaurant closes…
Clean up for 60-90 minutes, making sure all your mise is inventoried so you know exactly what has to be done for the next day.
Go home…
…do it all again.

That was my day for five days out of the week. There were days when I never minded walking into walk and had a smile…
Then there were my F*!$# you days. Those days when you really don’t care if they were your friend yesterday because you’d
rather be doing something else.
Is that a way to live?
A cook job is very undervalued in ANY restaurant.
They’re underpaid, overworked, and just above the dishwashers.

Let’s take all the drama out of a cook job…
…and all of the hefty workload out of the cook job…
…and give you a new platform to still cook and create, but to also have a following as well.
What would it be like if you got a chance to show off your skills to the public? What would you show them how to do? What
would you teach them?
Lots of people are setting up their own blog online and teaching people how to cook. Some are more sophisticated than others,
but if you take what you learned at your cook job and showed the world what you got, you might impress some people.
So instead of being at a cook job, mundanely doing the SAME recipes for 3-4 weeks straight (sometime months), create new
recipes and show them to the world.
The problem with setting up a new blog to show people what you learned at your cook job is how to create an income. Most
blogs NEVER reach that status of providing a SOLID income stream for you to live on. They never reach the status of making
at least $50,000+ a year.
