3. SMILERS
Smilers is an Estonian rock band formed in 1991 by Hendrik Sal-
Saller. The name comes from a Rod Stewart album, quot;Smiler“.First the
band was named Lezer Brozers. In 2004 and 2005 SMILERS won the
awards for the Best Artist of the Year, which is the greatest apreciation
you can get in our country.Smilers were also awarded a Golden Disc
for Song of the Year in 2004 for quot;Ainult unustamiseksquot;
4. SMILERS
SMILERS is undoubtedly one of the
very few bands in Estonia that does
not let people remain unmoved -
they have sold more albums and
have had a lot of hits No1 in radios
than any other band in our country.
The grateful audience is absolutely
crazy about their contcerts! Last
year they ad about 150 of those.
SMILERS has also participated in
many charity events and given
concerts in the Alps, Southern
France (as high as 2 300 meters
above the sea level!) and in Sharm
el Sheik, Egypt.
6. TANEL PADAR & THE SUN
The Sun has performed as support act for Metallica's only concert in the
Nordic countries to an audience of 80 thousand fans (Summer 2006)
and supported Aerosmith in their World Tour in Tallinn and Riga
(Summer 2007).
The band has set personal records playing in front of 20 thousand on
Summer 2006 Festival appearances, which were later released on DVD
compilation and giving up to 300 concerts a year to promote their prior
releases.
7. VANILLA NINJA
Estonia`s most successful pop-rock group Vanilla Ninja came together in
Tallinn, Estonia in August 2002 when 2 couples of best friends - Katrin
Siska, Piret Järvis and Lenna Kuurmaa, Maarja Kivi - met and decided
to Vanilla Ninja`s first and self-titeled album was released in May 2003.
The first international single „Tough Enough” was released besides
Estonia also in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. In Germany „Tough
Enough“ reached a very high 13th position in the official German Single
Charts!
