Khởi nghiệp từ thương mại
Khi ra trường năm 1993, một người bạn luật sư đã khuyên ông Thắm nên kinh doanh. Sẵn có niềm đam mê, với số vốn nho nhỏ vài nghìn đôla vay mượn của bạn bè, chàng trai này bắt tay ngay vào công việc. Hồi đó Việt Nam mới mở cửa, có nhiều cơ hội làm ăn.
Ban đầu ông Thắm làm đại lý cho một số hãng lớn, với những mặt hàng kinh doanh đầu tiên là dầu ăn và lốp xe ôtô; ông Thắm tự nhận mình là một trong những người đầu tiên đưa dầu ăn Neptune vào Việt Nam.
Sau phân phối, ông Hà Văn Thắm chuyển sang mua bán sáp nhập một số công ty sản xuất của nước ngoài. Rồi do sự tình cờ, tôi tham gia vào lĩnh vực ngân hàng, sau này là chứng khoán, bất động sản.

agreements with strategic partners and leading corporations, especially with PetroVietnam, its subsidiaries and associates. In addition to providing credit products, OceanBank paid great attention to capital arrangement activities for major projects of
PetroVietnam such as the Phu Quy Wind Power Plant

2011 also marked the establishment of partnership
between OceanBank and leading state-owned corporations. The Bank signed the comprehensive cooperation agreements with Vietnam Airlines
Corporation, Vietnam Railways Corporation, Vinalines
and Vietnam Shipbuilding Industry Group (Vinashin).
These events were important steps in OceanBank's
expansion of customer base with strong financial
enterprises, OceanBank aims at establishing a comprehensive partnership with these corporations in
order to provide banking & financial services, credit
facility and guarantee services for them.

One of the business philosophies of OceanBank
emphasizes human resources as the core factor and
the most valuable asset of the Bank. Along with the
network expansion, the total number of employees of
OceanBank by the end of 2012 reached nearly 3,000
people, With the rapid development, OceanBank
gradually rejuvenated and reshaped the workforce
to create a group of skilled and competent personnel who are qualified for the new business environment. Many young officers were trusted and elected
to leadership positions in the Executive Board of the

OceanBank xaùc ñònh heä thoáng CNTT laø neàn taûng

The Information Technology system paves the way
for effectively developing a wide variety of banking
products and added value services for customers
and acts as the basis for modern standardized banking management. The Corebanking software has
been activated, which makes OceanBanks technologies the modernest after the shortest period of time.
OceanBank also employs high speed fiber optics systems to connect the whole system.
OceanBank defined key tasks for the IT Department
of the Bank as follows: To upgrade and optimize the
processes to improve service quality, meet the
requirements of banking operations and to improve
efficiency so as to ensure operation and minimize
operating expenses. To achieve these objectives,
OceanBank has successfully implemented the first
phase of Information Technology service management system in accordance with the ITIL Ver3 standards. With the implementation of this system, all IT
services provided by OceanBank are managed
according to standardized procedures, in order to
assure the highest customer satisfaction. At the same
time, IT resources were allocated appropriately and
efficiently, thereby helping the bank reduce operating costs` e-banking services group. With in-depth
and proactive investments, OceanBank developed its
e-banking services and products on the advanced
and secure technology platform. OceanBank
launched the product identification packages for ebanking services including Easy Online Banking, Easy
Mobile Banking, Easy M-Plus Banking and Easy
Corporate Banking with the message "Easier than
Ever" which integrates many advanced features to
optimize the benefits to individual customers and
businesses.

OceanBank officially initiated the project of upgrading the card switching system to transform a new system using Smart Vista. Upon completion, this upgraded system will not only enable OceanBank to process
a huge number of cards but also create a sufficient
platform for deploying multiple products in the near
future. This advancement helps OceanBank make
firm steps in achieving the goal of being placed
among the Top five leading banks in Vietnam who
have the biggest number of customers using electronic banking services and the highest proportion of
sales through e-banking channels in the future.
