3. Introduction
Over the last half a century, numerous studies
have indicated that E-resources are extremely
useful for research, teaching and life-long learning.
Electronic resources solve storage problems and
control the flood of information.
E-learning systems have been introduced with the
emergence of and developments in information
technology .
4. Objective
The main objective of this study is to empower users in an e-
learning environment with an Information Communication
Technology (ICT) web based system in order to play a bigger
role in seeking and sharing e-resources for better
understanding of the curricula.
5. E-resources
Print resource refers to conventional print editions published
and distributed as paper copies while e- resource refers to
editions available online through computer networks
(Internet).
6. Characteristics of electronic resources
Provide timely access;
Support searching capabilities;
Accommodate unique features such as links to related
items.
Contain multimedia information;
Do not require physical processing;
Environment friendly;
Automatically generate alerting and other secondary
services
7. Advantages of electronic resources
• The speed of publication and delivery of the journal
issues is much faster .
• Inclusion of audio and video base text is possible.
• To access and retrieve relevant articles, a good number
of search engines are available
• Downloading and printing of relevant articles is possible.
• Help in minimizing the problems related to the
conservation and preservation of journals.
9. It is a search engine that indexes the content of scholarly
material published on the internet and in electronic books
and journals
10. Electronic resources for all steps in research
• Finding research problem / topic
• Gathering background literature
• Collecting data
• Analyzing data
• Writing research report
11. Conclusions
E-resource has a tremendous impact on scientific
research in terms of-
• inspiring collaboration and joint research work,
• resulting in faster completion of tasks,
• Enormous time saved in terms of article retrieval or time
spent at the library,
• immensely helps in publishing more scientific papers,
• helps in getting information related to specific scientific
processes,
• assist in more organized archival of research papers and
finally aids in gaining more scientific knowledge.
