Get prepared for back to school by ensuring a smooth classroom management system. Students need to understand the layout of your classroom. Use this slide show as a road map that you can easily personalize for your own class, or use it as is.
3. When you enter the room
• Sharpen
pencils and be
seated before
the bell rings
• Copy lesson
details from the
board into your
agenda
• Begin the bell
work
4. If you need supplies
Check with your teacher immediately in order to go to your
locker or the counselors to collect what you need – Be sure
to do this BEFORE class…not when you are supposed to start
work. Show me you care about your work.
5. When I need your
attention
I will count backwards from five. When I get to one,
the whole class should be silent.
If anyone speaks, or counts with me, you will lose 30
seconds of passing time…to start with.
6. If you need help
• Raise your hand and wait until I call on you. If it
has been a while, you still must wait while I help
someone else.
• If it is not an assessment, quietly ask a neighbor at
your table
7. When you are working in a
group
Collaboration means to work together in a
group. Everyone shares the responsibility;
no one is left out of the group. Listen to
each other with respect and hear what
they have to say.
8. When you are working
independently
Do your very best to get through the work on your own.
If you get stuck, re-read the directions. Independently
means you must do it yourself. Spend some time trying
to figure it out. Don’t just immediately raise your hand.
Think!
9. If you should need a pass
• Completely fill out the pass in your agenda, then come to me and ask
me to sign it. You may NOT borrow another person’s agenda. If there
are no spaces left, you will be sent to the nurse’s office and will need
to call home.
• If emergency, ask for permission to leave (not during modeling)
• *You MUST take a pass every time you leave the room…even if you ask
and I say “yes,” does not mean that you can leave without the pass.**
10. When you turn in
your work
• Turn in all work to the yellow box next to the file cabinet on
the desk. Make sure it is in the correct hour slot.
• NEVER HAND YOUR WORK TO ME! I promise you I will
lose it, and you will still be responsible for it.*** Remember
this. You, not me, are responsible for getting your work
turned into the correct folder for credit.
11. When you leave the room at
the end of class
• Clean up your work
space
• Stand up and push
in your chair
• Wait for your
teacher to dismiss
you, then
• Quietly exit
12. If you are absent
• Copy assignment/lesson out of someone’s agenda for that day
• Pick up any handouts from the red bookshelf.
• All absent work is due two days after your return…I will not ask
for it….it is completely YOUR responsibility to turn it in. If you
don’t, after 2 days there will be a “0” placed in PowerSchool until
I get it.
