7 Super Anti-cancer Foods
1. 7 Anti-Cancer Superfoods
by Kristie Blankenship
The World Cancer Research Fund estimates that about 34 percent of
cancers are linked to lifestyle factors, including diet. So, the next time
you go to the grocery store, pick up some of these great foods for
fighting cancer.
Broccoli may protect against many cancers such as lung, colon,
prostate, breast, and bladder cancer.
Broccoli—and its cousins Brussels sprouts, cabbage and
cauliflower—have a bitter taste, which is thought to be the main
reason for its deterring cancer. They have bitter chemicals in them
that ctually interfere with cancer progression by activating enzymes
that inhibit cancer cells, and suppressing those that promote cancer.
2. Garlic may protect against many cancers including colon,
mouth, stomach, and throat
The smelly compounds in garlic are potent anti-cancer agents. All of
the onion family, including leeks and shallots, contain these
compounds. To get the most out of garlic, chop or crush the clove
and eat it raw or cook it lightly.
Green tea may protect against many cancers, including bladder,
stomach, and colon
3. Green tea has an important anti-cancer compound that is a powerful
antioxidant that appears to stop damage at a genetic level. Green tea
is lower in caffeine than black tea or coffee.
Tomato sauce may protect against postate and possibly other
cancers
Tomatoes are a potent free-radical scavenger. It is even better to
include a little olive oil when cooking with or consuming tomatoes
because the fat increases absorption further.
4. Yogurt May protect against: Colon and breast cancers
Works because: Probiotics, the beneficial bacteria found in live
yogurt, promote good digestive health and may boost the
performance of the immune system. In animal studies, regular yogurt
intake has been shown to increase levels of immune anti-cancer
compounds such as interferon and natural killer cells. Look for yogurt
containing live, active cultures.
Oranges and carrots may protect against lung and several other
cancers
Oranges and carrots are rich in antioxidants, which appear to protect
cells by neutralizing free radicals.
5. These are just a few of the many, many foods that can help us in
our fight against cancer and prevention of cancer. Eating a diet
