17. Understanding Company Compliance
Often after the incorporation of the startup, founding members would, with
good reasons, occupy themselves with the product and business development
area of their business up to a point, for those who eventually attract
investment interest, finding themselves in a situation of the need to straighten
out their internal governance elements.
Usually this is an outcome of requirements set out by an interested investor
who needs, as part of the risk reduction measure, to see fluidity of board and
management structural processes.
Besides the above, the workshop will also cover other areas with regards to
compliance issues in Singapore during this early stage of the business plan as
well as anticipating certain aspect of business filing and other admin factors
that will come their way.
Key Highlights:
- Director's obligation to ACRA
- Compliance requirements - statutory registers, minute book, resolution of
directors & shareholders, AGM
- Raising funds from share-holders as capital or loans
- Roles of company secretary in assisting directors to fulfill obligations
- Question & Answer

18. Lessons at NTC
Marketing & Branding for Startups
Differentiation is key for any startup in an ever expanding, globalized and
growing market space. Having a great product may make marketing easier,
but is it sufficient? With limited financial resources, a common problem for
most startups, how does one best optimize existing and low-hanging
resources for effective marketing and branding? Being young in the
competitive industry, and usually unable to control market environment or
sentiment, how does a startup create an impactful branding strategy (to
internal and external stakeholders) that eventually lead to brand equity, and
customer acquisition? The above and more are some of the issues that will be
addressed during the workshop for young startups to take their business to a
higher level of growth.
