3. europeana.eu. Ce e ea... (2)
• catalog colectiv transnațional de resurse
culturale digitale expuse de țările membre ale
Uniunii Europene (+ încă câteva);
• are (și) ambiții tehnice importante;
• stochează și expune metadatele (i.e. fișele
catalografice ale) obiectelor digitale;
• obiectele digitale: expuse pe saiturile
furnizorilor, deci într-un mod foarte distribuit.
8. europeana.eu: resursa digitală
• adresa web (URL) (pe saitul furnizorului) trebuie
să fie stabilă (pe termen lung);
• „stabilă pe termen lung”: garanția de persistență
(10 ani ?); YouTube, Wikimedia, Flickr,
GoogleBooks se califică ?
• calitate acceptabilă, i.e.
– imagini de bună rezoluție;
– dimensiuni rezonabile;
– să nu necesite instrumente neuzuale;
– conexiune rezonabil de rapidă.
13. europeana.eu: problemele legale
• furnizorul trebuie să obțină drepturi depline de
(re)publicare a obiectelor digitale
– nu e o problemă în cazul operelor din domeniul public
(deși, în cazul operelor vizuale, de regulă, chiar dacă
originalul — e.g. tabloul — este în domeniul public,
reproducerea sa digitală e sub copyright-ul fotografului);
– problemă în cazul operelor orfane și, mai ales, a celor sub
copyright („gaura neagră a secolului XX”, i.e. lipsa masivă a
operelor de secol XX, din pricina absurdei limite [viață + 70
de ani] din legile europene ale drepturilor de autor);
• furnizorul trebuie să ofere metadatele sub licența
Creative Commons CC0 [„No rights reserved”], i.e. să
poată fi refolosite fără restricții.

adapted for users with different needs (tourists,
schools, scholars) ‐> creativity
21. Contribuție benefică
Task 4.2 Terminology Management Platform (TMP)
• Terminology network to consult, use and link in a
semantic environment
• Content providers can upload, edit and share (mono-
or multilingual) terminologies
• Publish them in SKOS RDF (linked data)
• Semantic mapping tool = provided by the TMP
• Pilot group of content providers for input on user
requirements and technical improvements
23. Data Exchange Agreement
With regard to licensing of the resources provided by data providers to
Europeana, the DEA sets out two simple principles:
• For all descriptive metadata provided to Europeana, data providers
grant Europeana the right to publish the metadata under the terms
of the Creative Commons CC0 1.0 Universal Public Domain
Dedication. This means that all metadata provided to Europeana
can be re-used by third parties without any restrictions.
• Each digital object (and the associated preview) that is available via
Europeana needs to carry a rights label that describes its copyright
status. Data providers grant Europeana the right to publish previews
provided to Europeana. Previews may not be re-used by third
parties unless the rights label related to the object allows such re-
use.
