3. Teaching objectives
•To understand about the green house gases.
•To undertstand about the infrared
radiations.
•To understand about the air pollution.
•To understand about the green house effect.
•To understand about the global warming.
•To understand about the effects of global
warming.
4. •The glass panels of the
greenhouse let in light but keep
heat from escaping.
•This causes the greenhouse to
heat up.
Green house
•Greenhouses are used to
grow plants, especially in the
winter.
•Greenhouses work by
trapping heat from the sun
5. water vapour
C OO Carbon dioxide (CO2)
Green house gases
methane (CH4)
Nitrous oxide (N2O)
Ozone (O3)
Hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs).
Any gas that absorbs infra-red radiation in the
atmosphere.
C OO Halogenated Chloro fluoro
carbons (HCFCs)
6. Green house effect
Carbondioxide present in
the atmosphere absorbs
infrared radiations
reflected from the surface
of the earth and heats up
the atmosphere.
This heating up of
atmosphere by
carbondioxide in the air is
called green house effect.
9. Greenhouse gases in the atmosphere behave
much like the glass panes in a greenhouse.
10. But if the greenhouse
effect becomes stronger, it
could make the Earth
warmer than usual.
Importance of the greenhouse effect
Without the greenhouse
effect, the Earth would not be
warm enough for humans to
live.
11. Global warming
Because of Green house effect the average
temperature of the earth increases and this
is known as Global warming
12. Sunlight enters the Earth's atmosphere, passing
through the blanket of greenhouse gases.
28. Speech on Global warming and its impacts (24-06-2008)
