What is the Kiva Peer Review Program?
One of the New York Times Magazine’s “Top Ideas of 2006,” Kiva.org is the world's first person-to-person
micro-lending website, empowering individuals to lend directly to an entrepreneur in the developing world.
The Kiva Peer Review Program offers the opportunity to use your professional translation skills to
alleviate poverty, contribute to the Kiva Translation Program with a flexible timeframe, and mentor Kiva
Translators.
Volunteering from your own home, you will work with a small group of Kiva volunteer translators to help
them build their translation skills and quality level. You will have access to posted translations and will be
given a framework for providing feedback to them at your convenience. This program is designed for
professional translators with variable schedules, so that you can participate during your down time.
What languages are needed? What are the requirements?
• French • Professional translation experience
• Portuguese • Desire to mentor new translators on a
flexible schedule
• Russian
• Ability to commit 5 - 6 hours per
• Spanish
month to volunteering for six months
• Possible future needs: Arabic and Tagalog
• Comfortable with new technology
