Most Australians live along the eastern and southern coasts of Australia where the climate is milder and there is more rainfall. Australia has a diverse climate from tropical in the north to temperate or Mediterranean in the south with arid deserts in the interior. The land contains valuable natural resources including minerals, fossil fuels and fertile soils.
