Hydraulic Down Force System
SeedCommand™
FOR PLANTERS
Variable Rate Control
Enables variable rate application by product for more
efficient use of inputs. Variable rate allows the operator
to utilize prescription maps for seeding and application
rates, matching their seed and fertilizer inputs to
attributes such as soil type.
Controlling a planter’s down force is a proven way
to improve consistent emergence across the field
and increase yield. Ag Leader Hydraulic Down Force
system drastically improves on air bag down force
systems, providing instant response to changing soil
and field conditions that can’t be accomplished with
air bag systems.

Adjusts pressure instantly in changing soil types
without the inconsistency created by pneumatic
systems that respond over a longer period of
time (and land). An air bag system could take
up to 20 seconds to inflate enough to create the
proper down force, compared to one second with
Ag Leader’s Hydraulic Down Force system. The
difference? A quarter acre using a 24-row planter.

10. Smart Report™
DirectCommand’s Smart Report™ simplifies application
reporting (both liquid and granular), providing an
easy way to generate detailed application reports for
government record-keeping. Reports provide location,
product information, applied totals, field areas, asapplied maps and field boundaries.
• Enter basic information about weather, soil
conditions, products used, etc.
• Automatically generate PDF reports that can be
saved, emailed or printed.
• Requires no additional software.
DirectCommand™ has simply revolutionized application.
The unique AutoSwath™ feature decreases overapplication –
saving input costs and improving environmental stewardship.
DirectCommand offers complete control over liquid or granular
applications, while at the same time logging data and providing
real-time application mapping capabilities.
“On average we are 20
percent more efficient than
we were before, simply
from the amount of acres
we’re able to cover per day
using our DirectCommand
system. This is largely due
to less operator fatigue. It
probably totals to about 15
percent savings just due to
the increase in efficiency.”
Nate Ray, California

12. The use of crop sensing technology in grains, cereals and
other production ag crops is one technique to increase plant
health and yield potential. OptRx® Crop Sensors measure
the nitrogen needs of your crop and provide application rate
recommendations in real-time to maximize your profit.
“The key is to get liquid
nitrogen delivered to the
plant before it makes its
yield determination.
Unfortunately, by the
time plants show stress
that’s visible to the
human eye, the yield
determination has been
made. That’s where you
see the true benefit of
the OptRx system.”
Matt Helmke, Nebraska
How OptRx Works
•
•
•
•
OptRx Crop Sensors are installed across the application boom.
Emitting their own light source, the sensors measure crop vigor based on plant mass and light reflectivity readings.
The Vegetation Index (VI) is a value that compares the vigor of crops to show the variability of health across a field.
Using the VI, DirectCommand™ applies nitrogen at variable rates on-the-fly based on real-time crop readings.

sources of nitrogen in the soil. The more organic
matter present, the more nitrogen the soil produces.
Because organic matter can vary with different soil
types, nitrogen availability in the soil can vary greatly
across the field.
Denitrification
Denitrification occurs as a result of poor drainage
and uneven moisture distribution across the field. In
standing water, nitrogen in the soil changes into a
gas and is lost to the air, leaving soil in some areas
of the field nitrogen deficient. Denitrification can
cause a loss of 5 percent of nitrogen per day, causing
significant variation across the field.
Lodging and Under-fertilizing
Under-fertilizing crops can lead
to significant losses in yield. At
the same time, for wheat, barley
and other grass crops, overfertilizing can lead to lodging
which can cost a grower up to
60 percent of total yield.

When to Use OptRx
Corn
For optimum results, nitrogen should be sidedressed after V5
using a high-clearance nitrogen toolbar or high-clearance sprayer
equipped with drop hoses.
OptRx Crop Sensors are ideal for
applying fertilizers, pesticides,
defoliants, growth regulators and
other agrochemicals on-the-go at
the rates necessary for optimum
performance. Working with an
agronomist or crop consultant,
select a Vegetation Index range
and assign the recommended
rates based on the range chosen.
Wheat
The ideal application window for topdressing wheat is when the
crop is between tillering and stem elongation growth stages. Any
equipment capable of topdressing the crop will work.

13. Yield Monitoring
Yield Monitoring
PROVEN YIELD
MONITOR
TECHNOLOGY
Yield and Moisture Mapping
View yield and moisture maps in
real-time for instant feedback on
yield performance across the field.
Ag Leader provides the most widely used grain yield
monitoring technology in the world. Create and view yield
and moisture maps while harvesting and instantly observe
how field conditions affect yield.
“When we first started
mapping and using SMS
software, our first thought
was that we would be able
to cut back on expenses.
And we have been able to
do that to some extent.
The greater benefit is
being able to place the
nutrients where they are
the most productive and
most efficient so they
provide the greatest return
on investment.”
Overlay planting maps with realtime harvest maps to view instant
yield and moisture variations by
hybrid/variety in the field. This
provides better seed selection data
for next planting season.
Summary Screen
Harvest summary screen
provides at-a-glance information
about number of acres
harvested, total and average
bushels harvested and more.
Variety Map Integration
Yield monitoring with the Ag Leader® Integra
display now allows an operator to load crop
variety maps recorded by another Ag Leader or
other brand of planter monitor. Data can be read
into the software to create a reference file that
can then be loaded onto the Ag Leader Integra
display. This allows the operator to view variety
performance in real-time during harvest.
Yield Monitoring Benefits:
• Improve understanding of seed types and
field activities on yield.
• Collect more accurate yield data.
• View real-time yield comparisons.
• Improve hybrid/variety selections based on
field yield data.
• Make storage decisions based on moisture
readings in the field.
Data from your field is an invaluable resource to help you make better
management decisions.
• Overlay hybrid/variety maps with harvest maps to determine yield performance.
• SMS™ stores every year of information so you can see the history of yield trends.
• SMS turns your data into a “Report Card” for evaluating your performance in
the past year. Use the reports to provide totals and averages for each field, while
using the query tools to analyze specific areas.
AutoSwath™ for Harvest
Harvest data is recorded based on the number of
rows being harvested, providing accurate data when
harvesting point rows or partial swaths.
Grain is fed into the
harvester’s elevator where
sensors read the moisture
content of the grain.
As the grain is delivered to the
holding tank, the mass flow
sensor monitors yield.
Information on both yield and
moisture from the sensors is
recorded by the Ag Leader®
Integra or Versa™ display
mounted in the cab.

Water Management
Intellislope
INSTALLING
TILE THE
EASY WAY
Water management is an important part of maximizing
yield. Properly-tiled fields can lengthen planting windows,
promote better root development, reduce field compaction,
increase nutrient accessibility and improve consistency
of crop emergence. The Intellislope® tile plow control
system makes installing tile easy, eliminating the need for
complicated laser surveying equipment. If you can drive a
tractor, you can install drainage tile with Intellislope.
“The ease of surveying
a line or system of lines
improved dramatically
compared to using a laser
or physically surveying
a field with a level and
stick. We can now install
tile almost instantly with
better accuracy compared
to taking several hours and
days hand surveying.”
Steve Berger, Iowa
Survey
Can be done ahead of time with an ATV, or
at the time of installation with the tile plow
utilizing RTK GPS. Collect surveys by driving
over the path where tile needs to be placed to
collect the surface elevation.
Intellislope Benefits
Plan
Enter the desired minimum/maximum target
depths, as well as the minimum grade to drain
excess water from the field. This can be done
in the field or with the SMS™ Advanced Water
Management Module.
Install
Use the plan you created to install tile using
AutoTile® to adjust the depth of the plow
automatically. You can also use Grade control
or Pitch control modes as needed.
Topography View
• Increase field operation windows and reduce field compaction.
• Reduce yield-robbing affects of denitrification due to poor drainage.
• Provide deeper root zone and earlier soil warm up for better crop
development.
• Eliminate hassles associated with laser surveying equipment/services.
• Do-it-yourself tile planning, recording and installation.
• Tile on your schedule with equipment you already own.
• Achieve professional grade results.
The Topography reference layer allows you to
visualize variations in elevation throughout the
field when it is difficult to see with the naked eye.
This makes it easier to ensure tile is placed in
the lowest areas of the field, and to allow the best
placement of tile for the most connections.
AutoTile®
Millions of feet of installed tile prove how well
AutoTile works to keep tile on grade. A threestep process to Survey, Plan, and Install the tile
is as simple as it sounds. The system now has
the added benefit of roll correction to keep the
tile depth at the desired level on side slopes.
