3. A Draftsman's job is to turn a
design idea into an accurate
picture. The initial drawings
that a Draftsman creates serve
as guides for the exhibition
designer, giving them a good
perspective of the space and
constraints within which they
need to work.
4. Drafting and design
Drafting is the production of drawings
to enable parts of any thing that
need drawn model.
Design is the art of producing parts
that can be made. You have to strike
a balance between accuracy and cost.
the more accurate the part needs to
be the more costly it is to make.
5.
6. Draftsmen work together to translate
design concepts to executable solutions
using computer software.
The role of an Exhibition Design
Draftsman includes:
•Analysing the concepts and preparing
preliminary sketches for client approval
•Preparing drawings that can translate
the design concept to specific details
7. •Specifically generating schematic
plans, perspective drawings, renderings, CAD
generated drawings and construction
detailing
•Preparing working drawings showing
sections, materials and finishes
•Reviewing, analysing and revising drawings
and maintaining version control
•Assisting exhibition designers in space
planning and property placements.
9. Exhibition Draftsmen spend most of
their time within the office,
occasionally visiting the venue. They
should be able to work with minimal
supervision on their own. Draftsmen
work normal hours but may be called
upon to work longer hours to meet
deadlines
10. Draftsmen should possess the following:
•Ability to visualise ideas in three-dimensional
form
•Accuracy in drawing work with an eye for detail
•Basic knowledge of materials and their uses
•Ability to make quick revisions, track changes
and organise work
•Proficiency in the latest 3D drawing software
e.g. AutoCAD
•Ability to take supervision well
•Initiative, enterprise and an ability to learn
constantly.
