6. • The Athan is Islam’s call to prayer, and the person who
calls it is called the muathen.
• It covers the essentials of faith, expresses Islamic
practices, and is a form of worship.
• It is made at the beginning of each prescribed prayers
time, which is called out 5 times a day to announce the
prayer time has come in and call people to pray.
• It should be made by the man who can perform it in
the best way possible. Even if one is performing the
prayer alone, he or she is strongly advised to make it
before beginning to pray.
• When it is called, Muslims walk to the mosque to offer
their prayer or stand before God in their own homes
towards the great house of Allah, “the Kaabah”.

Allahu Akbar
God is Greater than everything (said four times)
Ashhadu an la ilaha illa Allah
I bear witness that there is no god except the One God. (said two times)
Ashadu anna Muhammadan Rasool Allah
I bear witness that Muhammad is the messenger of God. (said two times)
Hayya 'ala-s-Salah
Hurry to the prayer (Rise up for prayer) (said two times)
Hayya 'ala-l-Falah
Hurry to success (Rise up for Salvation) (said two times)
Allahu Akbar
God is Great )aid two times(
La ilaha illa Allah
There is no god except the One God
For the pre-dawn (fajr) prayer, the following phrase is inserted after the fifth part above, towards the end:
As-salatu Khayrun Minan-nawm
Prayer is better than sleep (said two times)
