Supporting The Delivery Of Aggressive Lightweighting

Register By Friday

21st February 2014

From Our Previous GALM Events

The past two years have seen rapid developments in automotive lightweighting efforts with
the eagerly anticipated release of the BMW I Series, Mercedes S-Class, Lamborghini
Aventator, McLaren P1, Ford F150 and the 420kg weight reduction of the Range
Rover to name a few. With Aluminium and Carbon Fibre emerging as what seem to be the
front runners in achieving lightweight results in luxury brands, it is still unclear which material
combination will dominate the mass market.
Despite the above ground-breaking achievements in key areas, OEMs are still searching to
develop technical strategies solutions for cost-effectively integrating lightweight materials
into multi-material vehicles and securing lightweight materials and components on a
global platform.
As OEMs begin to reveal their material strategies and expand beyond their domestic markets,
the need to secure global material and Tier 1 supplier capability has never been more important.
This year, the internationally renowned Global Automotive Lightweight Materials (GALM)
Initiative returns to London with the mission of
1) Supporting the delivery of aggressive lightweighting by securing the global supply
base for aluminium, magnesium, high strength steel and composites
2) Integrating joining and forming technologies for multi-material manufacturing to enable
commercially feasible, high volume, lightweight vehicle manufacturing on a global platform.

What Makes GALM The Industry Leading Event?
1. OVER 1000 ATTENDEES: Since launch, the GALM series has doubled in size hosting
over 1000 automotive professional attendees so far, from over 50 of the world’s
leading OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers in automotive lightweighting.
2.	OEM LED: With an OEM-led agenda and more OEM speakers than any other
lightweighting forum, the GALM series is globally renowned for being the key
lightweighting conference for automotive manufacturers.
3.	PRACTICAL SOLUTIONS: Every session on the agenda for this conference has been
designed not simply to assess the challenges and problems, but primarily to deliver
practical, applicable takeaway solutions based on successful and not so successful
case studies from pioneering OEMs who are at the front line of automotive lightweighting
a. To help form strategies for selecting optimal multi-material combinations
including aluminium, magnesium and composites
b.	To help identify cost effective routes to achieving scalable solutions for
mass-market production for you to implement upon your return to the office.
4. MATERIAL SUPPLIERS PANEL: With the reliability and availability of material supply
being a critical driver in lighweighting roll-out, we will be hosting a dedicated material
suppliers section including a panel addressing global availability and revealing supplier
plans for supporting the increased demand of automotive lightweight materials.
5.	EXTENDED PANEL DISCUSSIONS: With idea generation, technical debate and
strategic discussion being key to scaling up the manufacture of lightweight vehicles,
there will be extended discussions and Q&A sessions throughout, in addition to the 20
case study presentations.

Venue Information:
The Summit will be held at the
Lancaster Hotel
Lancaster Terrace
London W2 2TY
