This fun game allows students to use their spelling, writing, and reading skills to compete in a friendly vocabulary game. There are various categories and different challenges that appeal to different thinking skills Everyone is sure to enjoy the team efforts that these five rounds combine. Let’s get the combination started to see which team emerges as the victor in the Christmas Spirit Showdown.
2. Game Description
• With the excitement of Christmas in the
air, students are bound to think about the
holidays, right? This fun game allows students to
use their spelling, writing, and reading skills to
compete in a friendly vocabulary game. There
are various categories and different challenges
that appeal to different thinking styles. Everyone
is sure to enjoy the five rounds of fun to see
which team can be crowed the Christmas Spirit
Showdown Champions!
3. Teams
• Divide the class into equal groups. (Try to
keep groups at 3 to 4 students per group.)
• Designate a team captain to be the official
spokesperson.
• Designate a writer to be the official team
secretary.
• Designate a materials manager to keep paper
and pencils close by.
4. Round 1:
• On your paper, you have three minutes to list as
many Christmas carols as possible.
• Teams will receive 1 point for each carol listed.
5. Round 2:
• On your paper, you will need to unscramble as
many words as possible in the five minute time
limit. You will receive 1 point for each
unscrambled word.

6. Round 3:
• On your paper, arrange the words of these
Christmas song titles in the correct order. You
will have three minutes to complete this. (Each
song is worth 1 point.)

7. Round 4:
• On your paper, you have five minutes to write down
one synonym and antonym for the words provided in
the chart. You will receive one point for each correct
synonym and one point for each correct antonym.
