4. Instructor Presence
“Instructor visibility is of key importance for
establishing instructor presence.” Although
our work underscores the importance of the
factors noted in our presentation goals, we
chose to narrow our focus to the use of
personal videos as a way of enhancing
instructor presence in online learning.
-Mandernack, Gonzales, & Garrell (2006)
5. Anytime. Anywhere.
One of the main reasons students choose to
take online classes is that they can access the
course at anytime, anywhere.
-Ferre, 2012
“I like that everything is planned out in
advance. I am able to get things done on my
own time. “

10. Student Response Data
“Continue to make videos! I learn best by
listening, so I appreciate having heard
requirements and expectations rather than
reading them!”
“They help to put a personal feel to the course,
and again, it shows the organization and
thoroughness of the course setup.”
11. Student Response Data
“My instructor made a great video at the
beginning of the course explaining everything
with great detail about the course. Right away
I felt very connected to her. She's offered to
meet us face to face when we have an issue
and I love that she's willing to help us in every
way.”
12. Student Response Data
“I said no because even though it is nice to
have that connection, the bulk of the work is
still done independently and in the same
structure as other online course I've had that
haven't posted the videos.”
